In the event that you, on your own accord and with full forsight and knowledge, engage in any recreational activity that is considered generally hazardous (including but not limited to climbing a mountain or sailing solo across the world) and, during the execution of said event, run into difficultly and become stranded and/or lost, it is henceforth the agreement between all parties that any steps to remove you from said danger is solely the responisibilty of the person engaging in said activity.

At no point will any government entity be responsible for engaging in rescue operations, thus spending millions of taxpayer dollars and thousands of man hours in a largely futile attempt to extract the private indivdual from their own screw up.

Signed into law this day, the 18th of December, 2006 by his High Lord the Most Holy Majesty Asharad Midnighter.

This in response to the guy who got lost in OR and left the car to find help? Or something else?

I'd guess the climbers stranded on Mount Hood, actually. Maybe both.

The Mt. Hood climbers.

The guy in his car, if I understand the situation correctly, just got caught out, he wasn't doing anything acknowledgably dangerous.

That's funny... I actually penned a new law in my MySpace blog last night that is vaguely similar lol.
