Is there any interest at all in forming a Yahoo! fantasy football league this year?

I'm always interested, but I'm not sure I should. After getting laughed at so badly during the draft last year, I think even if I *do* get into it, I'll let it random. I'd probably have better luck anyway. :P

Certainly, as reigning Fantasy Football king, I am interested.

Phear me!

I would be up for it. I suck, however.

I am very interested. Maybe I'll actually be able to draft my own team this year, if we do the draft on a Sat. ;)

Serani, don't worry about it. My first year drafting a team for the league involving money, I took almost too many StL Rams players, since that was what I knew (I think I had Warner, Holt, Conwell, and the defense (this was '00, the year the Rams defense was absolutely horrible... ), plus Az Hakim, The Fumble King.

My second year ('01), I made a mistake and drafted too many unprovens.

It takes a while to learn FFL, if you are interested in doing so.

But this league is for fun. And making fun of Ash, which is also fun. So if you're interested in fun, do the FFL anyway! (But for the record, you did not do so badly for your first year. Just diversify your draft, so your team has representatives from more than three teams (Pittsburgh, Denver, and Oakland, if I recall correctly), and your chances to do well will improve dramatically. :D)

Thanks for the advice. I'll keep that in mind and try to do a little research, too, before the draft comes up.

There's still an element of chance, so I'll have a LOT to learn before then, but it could be a lot of fun, too.

So, yeah, I'm in.

does the yahoo one cost anything? I am only familiar with the espn.com FFL which is $20-30.

I'm in! I love this kind of stuff!

Can I draft Terry Bradshaw and get a point for every time they make fun of him on the air?

Caranthir

Only if I can draft John Madden and get a point every time he states the obvious.

Only if I can somehow get a point for everytime Myron Cope in the 'burgh says "Yoy!" :P

I was perusing the draft details (thanks for the site, Caranthir! :)), and found that each coach has 90seconds to decide on and choose his/her next pick before the default/predetermined list/s will be activated.

Is this how the draft went last year? I understand that time can get carried away, especially if we have a lot of teams, but 90sec seems a little too little.

Will the team configurations be the same as last year? Last year, we have 1QB, 3WR, 2RB, 1TE, 1K, and 1 Def, plus I think 4 bench players (of any position). I think it'd be interesting, if we have the interest that it looks like we'll have, to have 6 bench players. Just an idea.

And, no, I'm not ready for some football, in the least... Why do you ask?

90 secs is plenty. It is only insufficient if you are totally winging it on draft day.

Caranthir

We had 90 seconds to choose last year, IIRC. It didn't seem to be a problem. Just make sure you come prepared. :P

Serani

I vaguely remember having plenty of time, but then again, I came prepared to basically pick the 'burgh.

I also had 2 QB's but I *think* that was because I used one of my bench players for the second. I don't remember, frankly.

Who'll volunteer to be the Commish? I'm certainly not knowledgable enough for that job. Any volunteers? Or should we vote on it?

And when do we create the league? I understand pre-season starts the 3rd, but how soon do we start this stuff? Last year was my first year in a fantasy league, so I'm still unsure of the details.

I'm commish for my league at work, so you could look at that one of two ways:

1) I'm already familiar with it, so I could do it for ours too;

or

2) I'm going to be busy overseeing my other league already, and there's money involved in that one. :P

As far as the rules go, the reason I brought this up so early is so that we'd have plenty of time to decide a set of rules. Last year I remember some hard feelings over points for receptions.

Pantless Wonders reporting in.

I swear I'll do better this year.

Unfortunately, to do that, I can't stick with all Steelers. :(

Well, it's a good thing I don't live in the 'burgh. They chase you out of town for things like that...
