I've been TRYING to stick my nose in there over the past few days... and failing miserably. I can't seem to get near the gates before I get pasted. Three deaths and I only JUST made it to the big giant/drake/cargul chokepoint. Eesh. Do people typically fight their way to the ranger outpost with a group? Or can you get someone to summon you who's been there before?

We ran through there once and got past the giants by the skin of our elven teeth. It's really a "run like your ass is on fire" experience unless you have a good group or raid with you. I think the whole area was meant to be very difficult to pass, on purpose, myself.

I blew my elven agility, defensive stance, Dire Need....

Well, I got there via a group summon to a raid that never quite got started. I'm thinking of just parking Tess there and checking for raids each time I log in. If none, I'll just hop to an alt or something.

Am I crazy in thinking they almost need some kind of server merge or something? I do a lookup on level 50's and only see maybe 50 most nights.

You're not crazy, though I have seen more at times, especially over the winter. It's mostly a summer thing, I'd think, so worry not :D

I keep meaning to get into a rift raid (I've got a couple of "regular" GOOD quality folk that I've grouped with a few times) but I log in rather late so I often do a "/who rift" and see 31 or 32 people... indicating a full-ish raid in progress. So I go off to PUGs in URU, of which the only point is a bit of faction and a bit of sub-par loot. Bleh.
