Since 4e uses squares, does figuring out range allow for counting diagonally or does it have to be counted only using the directions up or down and left or right?

AFIAK, diagonal is 1 move, just like back/forward/left/right. I think the only time you have to go forward/left instead of diagonally that way is when you're rounding the corner of an obstacle, like a wall. Make sense?

I don't have the PHB here, but IIRC "adjacent" means any of the 8 squares surrounding yours. I'll try to look it up tonight, unless someone else posts definitively in the meantime

I believe I remember in the podcasts that diagonal is allowed.

Diagonal = 1 sq, yes.

This sounds correct. Unless, of course, you're Sir Not Appearing In This Film, in which case I'd imagine you could fly through walls and belch fireballs if you wanted.

Damn. Well, we did pretty good, ppl. I mean, almost 500 posts in a DnD forum before the first Python reference. We'll get em next time.
