Ok, I'm damn lazy... asking this here instead of looking for an answer.
What's the 'recommended' daily amount of water intake? In ounces?
I've been drinking lots more water through the day recently, and been cutting back sodas to only at lunch and only if I'm eating out. Currently doing 60-70 ounces of water daily. Having the water bottle right next to my mouse at work has helped.

Thats a goodly amount! I am under the impression that the recommended daily water intake should be around eight 8ounce glasses. I think that should be about 64 ounces total. I also make sure I drink extra if I have a cup of tea or soda that is caffinated. And for every serving of alcohol I do, I try to take in another 8 ounces of water. (Though that doesn't always work :( ).

I'm pretty certain that is the recommended daily serving, Carol - 8 8oz servings.
For some reason, in the past several years, I would drink soda at work and at home, but when I went out to eat, it'd always be water for me. Especially when I have pizza. Stupid thing on my part, but I've always used the rationalization that the water will dilute the fat and grease in pizza so that the effect of eating said pizza is lessened. Completely stupid, I know, but it's gotten me by. :) Unfortunately, I think I've decided to give up pizza completely. We'll see how faithful I am to my future.

That 64 oz sounds right. If you are working out, drinking more is good. Drinking before and during is the most beneficial to keeping core temperatures down, if you are prone to overheating or sweat a lot.
Did you know that humans are generally inefficient water drinkers? Most people only drink when they are thirsty, and you are already dehydrated at this point. The best part about finding this out was that I also find out that dogs have gotten it right all along. When you get home from the walk where mom/dad emptied your bladder, it's best to drink as much as possible and fill that bladder up fast! Smart dogs.
