Hurray, I finally got back onto the machine. Did a total of 40 minutes at lower intensity levels, but still hard to keep my heartrate below my 85% target rate. Hopefully that will improve as I continue to exercise.

Took K for another long walk at the lake :o

I really should find out how long that walk really is, since it seems to be the majority of my exercise :o

Since I have posted to any of these since ... never, I'll catch up on the highlights.

Having been ill with sinusitis for months, I finally gave up the ghost and went to the fitness center on Monday - did elliptical machine for 25+5 (25min workout w/ 5min cooldown); was all I had time for. Flashforward to today (4/8), when I did 25+5 on elliptical, plus full range of arm weight machines. I don't know names, but I worked (by directional motions) forward press, horizontal arm bar forward and backward, pull down, push upward (above head) several reps each. Arms feel sore already, and I haven't even had a night's rest for them to get that way.

Anyone know good sites for naming weight machine (or other) exercises? Feels kinda silly to call them by directionals instead of real names. :D

Also have been working towards better, healthier eating. Have eliminated sodas from my fridge - only have juices, water, Light Minute Maid drinks (10cal 12oz cans; really I paid ~$4 per 12 cans of scarcely flavored water ; bought Raspberry Passion and Mango Tropical), diet Snapple peach tea, and gatorade for working out. Also have done a much better job eating this week, except for yesterday I "fell" when I was preparing an Easter basket for my sweetie.... Had to "test" the goods, make sure they were safe for consumption and all that.

Drom, if you check the Nautilus and Cybex websites I bet you could browse and find most of the names you are looking for. When I read your post I couldn't even wrap my brain around your descriptions. They made my head hurt.

Didn't get to work out yesterday. Too many papers. Wednesday is usually my long run day too. And I won't be able to swim on Thurs because of the Fit Fest. I'll be doing diet analysis instead. Friday should allow for a 5-6 mile run and this weekend I should be able to get in short runs as well.

I still need to get my tires inflated. Triathlons are coming soon and I don't have a working bike!

Heh.
I tried looking up the sites your references, which are apparently brand names for equipment. During the search, I found http://www.shapefit.com which seems to have tons of this information. That said ...

plus full range of arm weight machines. I don't know names, but I worked (by directional motions) forward press, horizontal arm bar forward and backward, pull down, push upward (above head) several reps each.

forward press = machine bench press
pull down = tricep pull down with rope
push upward (above head) = machine shoulder (military) press

horizontal arm bar forward = Butterfly with full arm extension (hand grips as opposed to forearm pads) - Range from ~30º behind to straight ahead
horizontal arm bar backward = Opposite direction of above (hand grips) - Range from straight ahead to ~75º behind

Thanks, Xan, for pointing me in the right direction.
