View Full Version : Factions - Just Two Missions Left

We have to travel all the way back to the newbie isle for Canthia to complete the final two missions to get our title for Factions.

Minister Cho's Estate and Zen Daijun are both going to be fairly easy and probably both doable in a single evening as there isn't a mob over level 21 in either mission. They are the tutorial newbie missions for Canthian born characters.

I left directions in the Guild MotD on how to reach the isle. We'll meet up at the drop-off city and go from there. The biggest challenge left will likely be running through all the sub-quests between the two missions, as it'll be time consuming more than anything.

Once we're "done" with Factions we'll need to decide what we want to pursue next. I figure we have a few choices:

1) We're done. Time to take a break and wait for GW2.

2) Faction questing for rewards from the various factions, though what good they would do us is debateable given that we've "finished" the main game.

3) Go back to Prophecies, Nightfall and/or EotN and try to do some high level content. There are lots of chained quests we can do in high level areas we haven't explored yet. That could be fun, but will be challenging with just the three of us and heroes.

4) PvP Content. Personally I'm not terribly interested in PvP within Guild Wars. But I'm willing to give it a shot if it's something you guys would like to try.

What do you guys think?

Not sure about "guys" since Erudite doesn't seem to come around here anymore. As far as reaching Shing Jea, I think I may have already been over there once to try and score Naga Skins so I can likely just map over. Otherwise, yeah it's pretty straight forward. We could probably solo these last two if we had to.

In terms of post-title GW, I'm game for anything but PvP. I have neither the temperment (or temper) nor connection for it. Hell, half the time I'm screaming at my PC as it is when I go into extreme lag induced rubber banding. Particularly bad in tight spaces, like say ALL OF FACTIONS CONENT! /rant mode.

And...done.

We win at Guild Wars.

So now it's time to consider what to do next. Honestly I'm not sure going back and running side quests, faction quests or going on skill cap hunts would interest me all that much. I think the only content I might be inclined to continue on at this point in time would be the advanced endgame missions in Prophecies, Nightfall and EotN.

Talked about this briefly with GravenStone last night. A few options?

(1) The elite areas attached to every campaign. Slaver?s Exile in EotN, Domain of Anguish (or Torment ? I get them mixed up) in Nightfall, something or other in Factions, and the three in Prophecies ? Fissure of Woe, Ruins of the Tomb of Primeval Kings, and Sorrow?s Furnace. I know there?s a quest or two to finish in Sorrow?s Furnace, but see below before we agree to tackle that one.

(2) I think both of you still have a few heroes that can be unlocked ? the ritualist hero from Nightfall, and M.O.X. the golem hero. The ritualist quest starts in the Nightfall endgame outpost but is run in Torment, the last campaign area. The quest for M.O.X. starts just outside of Lion?s Arch.

(3) Completing the Master Dungeon Guide from EotN. There are 18 dungeons in all, some pretty easy and some very very hard.

(4) The bonus mission pack. These may be solo missions ? I haven?t run any of them so I don?t know.

(5) The quest to obtain the Black Moa Chick mini. This starts by defeating Zho in one-on-one combat in the arena quest arc in EotN, spans all four campaigns, and is completed when you get hit by the AoE fire attack at the end of the last Sorrow?s Furnace quest (see 1, above). The mini can be displayed with the rest of your minis in the Hall of Monuments.

(6) Challenge missions in Factions, Nightfall, and EotN. The last two yield gold, experience, and armor art upgrades for your heroes, the first yields only gold and experience.

(7) Finally, we can try completing a campaign in hard mode. This is, well, hard ? and can be a bit repetitive ? but I?ve found it to be oddly fun. I?ve done a few of the early Ascalon missions, and it?s certainly a different experience.

So, there are still a few tangible things to work towards and a few things to try a few times (if only for the novelty) if you want to continue. Otherwise we can fold up the tents and await GW2.

We haven't discussed this in any length, but I guess I'd prefer to try the EotN dungeons. I think the bonus pack missions are solo (but haven't tried to confirm). If the Challenge missions are PvP, then I'm out. Aside from having the wrong temperament for that sort of thing, my latency would simply make me a target. I guess shooting for the available heroes would be interesting too.

Thoughts?

I have no interest in PvP or repeating everything in hard mode at this point. I am also pretty sure the bonus content is solo stuff, or at least easily soloable stuff. Black Moa might be fun, and unlocking more heroes might be as well.

I think though that to start we'd be best off doing post-endgame content like the Elite Areas in each campaign and the Dungeon Guide in EotN. Challange missions would be included with this provided they don't require we field a full PC-only group to succeed (I'm spoiled with you two and don't want to have to start picking up strangers at this point).

Perhaps start with the Elite EotN stuff and see where it goes from there?

Challenge missions are (usually) group-based PvE settings. In general, they are "kill as many mobs as you can in x amount of time", scored by the number of mobs you kill (duh) before the timer runs out or you wipe. Meeting certain objectives - killing a boss or closing a portal, for instance - extends your timer. High scores (daily, and maybe weekly/monthly/all-time) are displayed by the outpost record keeper, so there's a chance to see your guild name in lights and whatnot.

The tangilbe benefit to challenge missions, Nightfall and beyond, is armor drops that are used to upgrade the appearance of your heroes. Heroes with upgraded armor can be displayed in your Hall of Monuments.

EotN dungeons seems like a good place to start to me. Reward chests are nice.
