from Penny-Arcade:
- For those of you who enjoyed the D&D Podcasts (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/drfe/20080530), we're recording another session on Thursday. Jim Darkmagic (of the New Hampshire Darkmagics), Binwin Bronzebottom, and Omin Dran of Acquisitions Incorporated make their return to the table, while William "Wil" Wheaton (http://wilwheaton.typepad.com/) joins as the new hire, playing an unreleased class. Yes, that's correct: we have a celebrity guest. This is the big Goddamned Leagues, people.

Not that it matters too much to us, as we're already invested in it, but here's Wil's commentary about 4E:

The current penny arcade scripts have to do with D&D as well.

This is sort of PA/DnD related.
Gabe (from PA) has decided to run his own campaign. He talks about it here (http://www.penny-arcade.com/2008/12/29/student-has-become-master/). What I wanted to note was that two of the players are races I can only guess they are releasing soon? Warforged and Gnoll.

There are a bunch of races in the PHB that can be adapted for PCs. I laughed when I read about Minotaur characters. Talk about munchkin-itis.

PHB or Monster Manual?
Anyway, I had no idea. I found the info for the Warforged (attached), Gnoll (attached), and Minotaur (link (http://www.scribd.com/doc/8243578/DD-4E-Playing-Minotaurs-Dragon)) PCs.

I just don't see how a gnoll character wouldn't be run out of every civilized town...

I'm a bit surprised that I haven't had some... comments, in town, being a tiefling. I realize they're a more accepted then used to be, but still... connections long ago to demons? Horns & tail? Similar thoughts regarding dragonborn.
Hmm... gonna have to go read up more on the background story for those races.

If another one of these campaigns ever gets started again, I'll be hard pressed not to play one of these three races. The more I read on them, the cooler they seem.

We still don't know Solak's. You keep teasing us...

And I finally have something written up!
Will post it in the morning, just want to get a quick character clarification from Sagar first.

I listened to this one. Is there another? It ended before there was any combat.

I listened to some of Ep2 last night. They aren't as interesting now that I am actually playing, but the chatter is good.

I agree. And it's the chatter that I miss. I would love to try to get a Vent night going some time.
And I think next campaign I'm making a Barbarian. Sounds and, from the demo PDF I found, looks pretty bad ass.

I want to try a pet class - druid or ranger. Cleric is fun though. I would be tempted to try a battle cleric instead of a ranged cleric.

I would have to be more prepared up front (if I need to make something up now, I can just delay posting until I get an idea.)
But kibutzing is the best part of D&D (imho).

Nah, no pressure. We go until the ideas are gone or whatever. It would be fun. :D

The latest session had two or three times that made me laugh out loud. I was listening while running, so this took more energy than you might think. They were just.that.funny.

They should not have pushed the dwarf into the trap. Dwarves can resist push 1 square powers....
Also, the cleric didn't add his wis bonus to his heals.

I noticed the lack of WIS bonus too.

I expected Wil Wheaton to be kind of funny, but he comes across as a bit of a douche. Still, it makes me think of what an actual 6 hour gaming session with you knuckleheads would be like. I have a feeling i would be pretty drunk by hour 3.

I think he relaxes as they go along. He's really rather funny in the latest episode. Although not as funny as Jim Darkmagic and Binwin's touching moment.

I like that dispite all of the in-game theatrics, and the number of times he pulls a crit at JUST the right time to turn the tide of the battle, the drawings of Jim (of the New Hampshire Darkmagics...) have him looking very dorkish. He's definitely a legend in his own mind.
