Adventure 01 : Rescue at Rivenroar
Encounter 01 : Bar Fight!!
Brought together by echoes and whispers, Jacoby, Shere, Rajkelleran, Duma, and Urvi have only time to discover they share haunting dreams of war before their meeting is interrupted by an assault of goblins and hobgoblins, intent upon death and arson upon the Hart and Horn Tavern in the city of Bristol. The fiends clearly did not expect to find any real opposition, and in a newly formed alliance of need, the heroes defeated the attackers, allowing many of the tavern's patrons to flee in safety.
580 Experience divided evenly between Jacoby, Shere, Raj, Duma and Urva. (116 ea).

Encounter 02 : The Ogre Bombardier
On the heels of the quite literal fire fight in the tavern, the heroes find the immediate vicinity threatened by a firebomb tossing Ogre with missile wielding hobgoblin air support. This fight nearly claims them, but miraculously, the party manages to slay the Ogre and dispatch the archers. The city guard immediately begs assistance with the continuing attacks upon the city of Brindol.
650 Experience divided evenly between Jacoby, Shere, Raj, Duma and Urva (130 ea).

Encounter 03a : Discussions
In response to numerous reports of the party's success in defending the city the night before, Councilman Eoffram Troyas meets with the adventurers and is encouraged by what he finds. Believing he has indeed found the right people to recover not only the city's treasures, but more importantly, citizens themselves who were abducted in the night, the Councilman makes a generous offer to our seekers of adventure.
200 experience divided evenly (40 ea).
Encounter 03b: Interrogations
After meeting with the Councilmen, the band of adventurers interrogates a surly and overconfident Morrik - a Hobgoblin captured in the previous night's raids. With cunning, the party goads Morrik into revealing many details not previously known about the "Red Hand" that appears to be resurfacing, including where the hand can be found. About a day's hike to the north east, near the Giant's Shield's mountains, Sinruth's recreation of the Red Hand shelters in Castle Rivenroar, accommodations provided by the Castle's undead owners, apparently in exchange for live prisoners.
200 experience divided evenly (40 ea).
Encounter 03c: Traveling Shoes
Where others would surely fail, our band of stalwart adventurers with loaded dice skillfully navigate treacherous terrain and find the formerly lost Castle Rivenroar in record time. Once there, they discover a derelict outbuilding which shelters a deep stairwell that descends into the bowels of the earth. The goblin tracks emerge from this point...

Encounter 04 : The Chamber of Flame Unbound
Descending (somewhat hesitantly) into the catacombs found at the ruins of Rivenroar, the party is met with a duo of hobgoblins blocking the entry, while another duo of goblins played "lets plug the defender full of crossbow bolts"! A close call nearly cost the party their bard, but in the end, the party triumphed, killing the hobgoblins and forcing the goblin sharpshooters to flee deeper into the catacombs.
300 xp for the hobgoblins. 0 for the sharpshooters.

Encounter 05: Von Jallach Crypt
In luke warm pursuit of the escaped goblin sharpshooters, the heroes ascended a flight of stairs that led them to a room with deep blue runes etched in the floor spelling out the name "Von Jallach". Here, they encountered a Gnome Skulk and his pet lizards - two swarms of needlefang drakes! Evidently warned of the approach of intruders by one of the sharpshooters, the goblin joined the gnome in attempting to repel the invaders.
Success was almost in the hands of the attackers of Brindol, as our adventurers struggled with misfortune after misfortune, but in the end, the Gods smiled upon them, and they prevailed!
525 base xp for the encounter + 125 xp for the extra sharpshooter: 130 ea

Encounter 06
The newly rescued Adronsius in tow, the party continued exploring the catacombs, and soon discovered a makeshift barracks populated by goblins and hobgoblins. The party was able to prevent any escapes this time. One particular goblin fell to his death after missing the jump across a treacherous pit.

Encounter 08 (Yes, these can come out of order)
The party happens upon the Von Urstadt Crypt, which is guarded by two gnome skulks and two magma claws which appear, seemingly from thin air. While the party is ultimately victorious, once again they allow one of the villains to escape. What future trouble the escaped gnome may cause should be a source of increasing concern...

Enounter 09 (Sort of...)
Battered, bruised and exhausted, our intrepid adventurers bed down for the night in the former prison of their recently rescued dwarven companion. All is quiet, until a pair of archers who escaped justice previously seek revenge. Fortunately, the Avenger was ever alert, and the party quickly finished a job previously left unfinished.

Encounter 10
Our intrepid adventurers discover a lair of ettercaps - humanoid spiderlike beings with a taste for human meat, and find that they were planning to satiate themselves on Guard Captain Kartenix, who our heroes were too late to save.

Encounter 11
At first, the soldier and drake seemed a dire threat, but the Dragonborn Sorcerer, Rajkelleran Stormclaw, called on his dragon background and mingled it with arcane powers, and the few enemies remaining after the electrical fire passed fled in fear.
525 xp for killing/defeating all enemies. 105 ea.

Encounter 12
A trio of rats and duet of gnome skulks - and there do seem to be quite a few in an alliance with Sinruth's gang, were harrying the aging cook from Brindol, Mirtala. While one skulk escaped, the party was able to bring Mirtala around, saving her from what otherwise promised to be a damaged mental state from which recovery was uncertain at best, and mostly unlikely.
425 xp for combat + 100 xp for Mirtala = 525/5: 105 xp ea.

Encounter 14 (skipping 13 to bring #'s in synch)
The party ascends stairs into the upper levels of the Rivenroar Crypt, and encounters a group of Hobgoblins and drakes. Making short work of the Hobgoblins, a Goblin Hexer joins from the south. Things look dire for Rajkelleran at first, but the party quickly turns the tables, and eliminates the opposition.

Encounter 15
The party discovered the abode of Sinruth, beyond a cold room filled with chilling menhirs. Sinruth attacked the party wantonly, recklessly, and for a brief moment, he seemed as if he might prevail...no, ok, he didn't. He was pathetic. The party soundly trounced him in record time.

Encounter 16
Well rested and eager to test their new strengths, the party encounters what could be best described as an undead...Honor Guard? A pair of ghouls and a pair of zombies. The monsters try their best but are totally unable to stand up to the party, even with their grabbing and biting.

Encounter 17 - The Lords of Rivenroar
Delving into the deepest recesses of the Rivenroar crypts, our heroic party discovers a host of undead skeletons, commanded by a wight and a boneshard skeleton. Despite magical energies designed to keep the undead going, the party quickly vanquishes the fiends.

Encounter 18 - The Crypt Guardian
While it will forever remain a mystery why the designated guardian of the Crypts, an Evitro Demon, was confined to guard an area at the very near back room of the Crypts themselves, here the guardian resided, until our band of stalwart adventurers came upon it in its lair, along with two of his keepers - a pair of wererats that threatened the health of SHere and Urvi with their disease ridden bites.

Encounter 19 - Rats and Gnomes and Arcanists
A dead end room. Pews. A mysterious obelisk. Two were rats and a Gnome of indeterminate talent. No challenge at all for our stalwart adventurers. And... a step closer to the overall goal!

Encounter 20 In a deep, dark, cavernous room littered with debris, the party discovers the drakes which previously tried to nibble on Jacoby. With a vengeance, Jacoby teams up with Shere to land the killing blow, exacting his revenge.

Encounter 21
Returning from the crypts of Rivenroar Castle, the party is ambushed by a group of reptilian Kruthrik. The fight is tough - Urvi comes out particularly badly - but in the end, the party prevails, clearing the way for a triumphant return to Brindol.

Adventure 1 - Conclusion
The party is welcomed back to Brindol as heroes, and having rescued those prisoners able to be saved, is handsomely rewarded for their heroic efforts!

In addition, the party recovered many sentimental relics important only to Brindol's history, and receives an additional reward from the Brindol Hall of Great Valor

The party returns to the crypt to investigate any possible missed opportunities in the crypt, but discovers the arcane power that previously fueled the preservation of the undead has been dispersed, presumably due to the party's wholesale destruction of the evil Lords of Rivenroar who oversaw the undead home and shelter to the Goblin enemies of Brindol. No sign of the elusive "Emmisary" was found, but they did find additional treasure to reward their efforts.

En route to the city of Overlook, our intrepid heroes are assaulted in the middle of the night by a group of marauding Orcs - something absolutely unheard of in the Elsir Vale. Something must be seriously wrong at Bordrin's watch if the Orcs are getting past the vigilant dwarves.

While traveling to the Monastery of the Sundered Chain, the party is beset by a wandering group of Orc Raiders who have managed to breech the mountains. The fight is disorganized and tenuous at first, but some skillful positioning by the warden, Urvi, and a back to back set of wide area attacks turn the tide as four enemies are brought down in a single pair of actions.
Combat: 900 xp total; 180xp ea
Bonus: 50 xp to Urvi and Raj - for impressive combat tactics.

Entering the temple, the party encounters a grizzly sight - carnage everywhere, as well as a handful of orcs who are dispatched almost too easily...

On a steep mountainside, a group of orcs climbing a long flight of stairs foolishly rushes up the stairs to our heroes, and are just as quickly struck down.

Our new band of adventurers suffers losses as they travel the mysterious Vents - their guide, Kalad, dies in a tragic cave related accident - but finally they discover the mysterious "Nexus" - and are greeted with signs that they may already be too late.
The nexus is guarded by orcs! None are strong enough to defeat our heroes, however - though the Battlemind lost several inches of beard from burning flames...

Our party encounters automated guardians and while they rapidly dispatch the constructs - they are nearly blown to pieces by magical turrets. Fortunately, the turrets won't shoot dwarves, and Bjarn is able to save his party from death - but all but the dwarf are left unconscious, near death, and with no idea what lies beyond the next door...

Licking their wounds, the party retreats to safety, but skillfully lures a group of enemy orcs into pursuit down the same corridor which nearly defeated them. Plagued by hungry fire beetles from behind and turrets ahead, the orcs were cut to ribbons, and our party was completely unscathed.

The party discovers a shrine to Moradin which was being desecrated by the orcs and a cave troll, who was eating the remains of the Farstriders. No doubt remains, the other party failed in their mission, but our intrepid heroes brought fire to the party and the troll went down with ease.

Weary - so weary - but finally the Nexus is before our heroes, but the way is blocked by Orcs determined to keep the passages open. The flood of orcs that relentlessly assult our heroes is finally treated to the irony of being flooded themselves, as our heroes defeat Tusk the Orog, Myrissa his Shadar-Kai companion, and dozens of lesser orcs, finally activating the Nexus' seal which fills the chamber with boiling hot water.

Days have passed, and our party has spent much time on a fruitless quest to determine if there was any deeper power behind the orcish attacks. After reporting their inability to find any connection to the council, the party was ambushed by a group of humans who our heroes easily defeated, capturing 3 prisoners in the process...
