Was Paizo doing it with a license before? If so, bummer... guess they're too easy to copy. :/

Wizards of the Coast has instructed us to suspend all sales and downloads of Wizards of the Coast titles. Unfortunately, this includes offering download access to previously purchased Wizards of the Coast titles. We are in discussions with Wizards about their decision to change their approach to digital sales of their titles and will post more information as we have it. If you would like to let Wizards know your opinion on offering D&D titles for download, we suggest the D&D Message Boards found here (http://forums.gleemax.com/forumdisplay.php?f=693).
There's my answer...I had 2 downloads of PHB2 and MP left. If Wizards doesn't provide an alternative pdf service, then I am putting all my pdfs on torrent.

I think the words of Eric Cartman seem to fit...
"Dude, this is pretty ****ed up right here."

Wizards won't I don't think.
Too many people were just torrenting them.

Probably why they took away the license. That's a lot of money they're losing if people don't buy the books OR the PDFs.

Typical narrow minded moronic thinking. They should want as many people playing as possible. People who torrent the PHB are much more likely to buy more books than someone who walks in cold to a hobby store and sees the PHB on the shelves.

QFT. I resemble that remark.

Haven't actually done the torrent thing, but obtained the PHB from folks here. But I've been looking at finding a (the?) hobby/game store in town and buying the books, PHB 1&2.

Ditto. I much prefer having a physical book, especially since the quality of the books and the artwork in them is so high.... but I wouldn't be interested in buying them, if I hadn't gotten into the game via the less than legal means.

Amazon actually has them for a pretty decent discount right now.

Okay, silly question since my searching fu is not functioning.
Does the PHB2 replace the PHB or is it supplemental.
Same with the upcoming DMG2.

Both are supplemental and optional.
PHB is core for all, DMG and MM are core for DM.
All else is up to you.
PHB2 introduces new races, new classes, and some new paragon paths, items, epic paths, etc.

Okay, done. Core set, PHB2, Adventurers Vault and DMG screen.
I've been using the PDF of the PHB2 but I'm not as comfortable with a reference book online as I am with reading books online. It's odd. (or I'm odd, maybe both)

PHB2 classes are arguably more powerful than their PHB counterparts. For example, Barbarians get at-wills that can be used as melee basic attacks while no class in the PHB has such. Martial Power+PHB1 narrows that gap for melee and Arcane Power and Divine Power will do the same.

I've been looking at some of the PHB2 classes being played here and some of the powers used. A bit of jealousy perhaps, but the ol' term mudflation has come to mind a few times.

That is a bit harsh, but I agree to some extent.
1) Barbarian damage is better than ranger damage, but rogues still rule if they can get CA.
2) Warden is a better defender than most fighter builds, probably.
3) Wizard at-wills lack effects compared to new controllers (but that will be fixed with Arcane Power, supposedly.)

I think its a tad early to declare mudflation, personally.
I think with 4e, WOTC has gone a long way to make the game have a more standard play style for all the classes. The fighters no longer have nothing to do but roll to hit, and hte mages don't have to maintain complex lists of spell books and restructure their entire spell inventory every turn.

It has the makings of an MMO!
