I guess this is initially directed to Sagar, as he's my DM, but open to anyone really...

General question: What works best for describing the location/spread of an area burst effect?

More specifically, I'm looking at my new daily, Stinking Cloud ("More beans, Mr. Taggart?" "No... I'd say you boys have had enough."). Its an area burst 2, 5x5 spread. But I can move it around. So would it work best to say that its centered on C3, or that its encompassing from A1 to E5? Or both? So far its been fairly easy to know where something hits and what's immediately affected by it. Maybe I'm just reading a bit too much difficulty into tracking the cloud. *shrug*

When I was dealing w/ the dragon's breath attack in Group 4's last fight, I was saying "4x4 square from A1 to D4". The group can comment on whether or not it worked for them.

I find either pretty easy to understand.

For an odd number, I would give the center.
For an even number, the center is harder to define so spread works better.

Bursts are always centered on something. Blasts of even #'s are the funky ones.
