You hear the sound of someone coming down the hallway from the north (remember, the doors were open). He sounds like he was *trying* to be stealthy, but you hear a scraping noise, a soft clank, and a muffled muttering of a goblin word that if it were in common would probably be quite rude and exasperated.

A moment later (unsurprised), a tall, brutish looking hobgoblin, clearly extremely tough, appears in the door. He wears plate armor, and wields a spiked chain. His armor is decorated with the red hand, but in his case, there is only one hand, on the chest, over the heart.

His face twisted with rage, he snarls at you as he sees you. "So! You're the little flies that have been getting into the ointment, eh? Well you've stepped in the sticky honey now! You face Sinruth, and its time for you to die for your crimes against the army of the risen Red Hand!!"

Sinruth advances into the room (F4) past Urvi, and then lashes out with his spiked chain (reach 2) at the Warden. He attempts to wrap the chain around Shere's torso (15 vs. AC). The chain connects, and Shere is pulled closer to him while the spikes cut into his flesh (8 dmg; shere moved to E5). He grins, and (action point) lashes out again, this time at Urvi (20 vs. AC) and again, the spiked chain pulls his enemy closer while wounding (9 dmg, Urvi pulled to F3).

Interesting.

I will use presever's rebuke on the hobgoblin (immediate reaction). That gives me a +4 to attack

I will use blades of astral fire on him
attack:+8 vs reflex= 21
damage:1d6+4 and tor and urvi get +5 to their ac for the next round.=8

Duma rebukes Sinruth for his actions, and is wrapped in protective energies (7 THP). He unleashes blades of magical fire which (21 vs ref) swarm over Sinruth (8 dmg) and simultaneously protect Urvi and Shere (+5 AC, EONT Duma)

Jacoby will move to D7 and use Stirring Shout on Sinruth

20 vs Will, 10 Psychic Damage,
Until end of encounter When ALLY hits Sinruth they heal 4 Damage.


Made this big and noticable so hopefully no one will miss it.

Shere screams in fury as the chain shreds at his skin, and curses the foul beast (Minor: Oath of Enmity) before bringing his Flail around to bash the beast (Standard: Bond of Retribution: +6 vs AC, 1d10+4 dmg, 2 radiant if someone else attacks me)

Starting next round, my Divine Guidance power is available for one use (Encounter, Immediate Interrupt):
An ally within 10 squares of you makes an attack against your oath of enmity target
Effect: The ally can make a second roll and use either

edit: 22 vs AC, 14 dmg, heal 4

And if 22 doesn't hit, god help us all!

Raj advances, and launches a blast of cold at Sinruth (17 vs. fort) which causes him to feel a bit frosty (14 dmg; pushed..you didn't specify where so to G4).

Jacoby moves into the room and sends up a shout which heartens you all but (20 vs. will) causes pain (10 dmg) to Sinruth (all allies hitting sinruth gain 4 hps EOE)

Urvi, Shere Shere you just wanna move in on Sinruth and keep the attack?

Urvi shifts to G3 (move action) and marks Sinruth (free action), She then calls upon the Stone's Endurance (minor action +5 resist all damage until the end of my next turn). She then calls upon the Strength of Stone as she swings her Bastard sword at Sinruth (+6 VS AC, 1d12+4 damage, +4 temp hitpoints).

Shere shifts to F5 (Move action). Soooo not taking the OA from just moving ; since he pulled me in with the chain, he'd probably get an OA!!! Shere then does what he already done did done.

I'll tell you now, Sinruth does not have threatening reach, so he cannot OA reach 2, just adjacent.

Urvi advances on Sinruth, calling on her defensive powers of stone as she challenges Sinruth to face her. She then swings her mighty axe (12 vs. AC) and misses, wildly (12 vs. AC;+5 DR EONT)

Shere moves up to re-engage Sinruth as well, and utters an oath against him (Emnity). He swings his flail and (22 vs. AC) just barely manages to pass Sinruth's defenses, and lands a solid blow (14 dmg) as sinruth drops his guard for just a moment.

Round 2

Sinruth whips his chain out (wow that sounds bad) at Urvi, trying to get it around her legs (8 vs. Reflex) but Urvi easily jumps and avoids the snake like metal. Furious, Sinruth tries again (action point; 12 vs. reflex) and the chain trips Urvi (10-5 DR=5 dmg; prone) and Urvi falls backward badly. Seeing an opportunity, he (minor) STOMPS on Urvi (8 vs. AC21) - or tries, but she rolls aside easily. Finally, he shifts further into the room.

I'd like to push him into a menhir (F3) if possible. If not, then to G4.

That way, if Urvi pauses to let Tor shift, they can have Sin flanked.

23 vs Fort to hit (if Divine guidance is available)

Raj is going to use an Action Point to fire again - DF vs Sin (+5 vs Fort).

When your turn comes up Sagar he should already be in the menhir at f3. So just dont push him.

Raj sends two blasts of frost in a row at Sinruth, both hitting, the second hitting perfectly (23; 25 vs. fort; ap used, 14 dmg and then 15 dmg)

Urvi will delay until after Shere goes. Assuming he moves to E3 for combat advantage. Urvi then stands (move action) and marks Sinruth again before calling upon the Strength of Stone once again to help her in her attack (+8 vs AC, 1d12+4 damage, +4 temp hitpoints).

Duma's added defenses fade away.

Jacoby unleashes two blasts of power at Sinruth (24 vs. ref; 16 vs will) who howls in pain as the blast and the flash sear into him (15 + 10 dmg = 25; Jacoby invis to Sinruty, EONT; bloodied)

Urvi delays

Shere maneuvers into an advantageous position and swings his flail at Sinruth (24 vs. AC) connecting a light blow (5 dmg; recover 4 hps).

Urvi stands and, calling on stone's power again, brings her axe around in a powerful arc (27 vs. AC) which puts a nasty gash in Sinruth's side (13 dmg; recover 4 hps; +4 THP). Urvi's damage resistance fades.

Round 2 ends

Sinruth is chilled by the menhir, (6 dmg), steps south one, and then whirls his chain around in an attack which threatens Urvi and Shere both. The chain (28; nat 20) slams into Urvi, and (23 vs. ac) also hits Shere. Urvi is gashed badly (14 dmg - 4 thp) and Shere also takes a nasty hit (11 dmg; bloodied)

He then attacks with the flail once more (Standard: Bond of Retribution: +6 vs AC, 1d10+4 dmg, 2 radiant if other; +4 HP heal)

Jacoby sends out a magical attack that seems to come from Raj. The attack (24 vs. ref) easily gets past Sinruth's defenses (9 dmg; mark-> raj).

Shere gets beastly (+2 spd; +1 ac/ref EOE), and quickly moves around the room to flank Sinruth again. He swings his flail (25vs AC) and easily hits, regaining some health as Sinruth is looking worse and worse off.

Urvi takes a deep breath (heal 8; +2 all def EONT). She draws upon her reserves and launches an impressively abysmal attack against Sinruth. (Swish)

Sinruth ignores the mark on Raj, and lashes out with his chain at Urvi (13 vs. ref13). The chain wraps around her ankles. He jerks, and she's pulled to the ground (5 dmg; prone). He then (minor; at-will) *stomps* at Urvi with heavy boots, twice (23; 11 vs. AC 18). One stomp misses but the other comes down on her shin (5 dmg).

Raj follows fire with ice, blasting Sinruth with cold (21 vs. ref, 15 dmg)

Jacoby sends healing music to Urvi (12 hps recovered). He tries to follow with another "slight of attack", but (14 vs. reflex) can't make the connection.

Sinruth is teetering...but he shows no sign of running. He's just getting angrier and angrier.

Shere calls upon Sehanine, and swings his flail one last time (22 vs. ac), and just eeks past Sinruth's guard, slamming the flail squarely into SInruth's face. The bones of his nose are jammed into his brain, and he falls back against the wall and slides down, leaving a trail of blood and gore on the wall.

And Urvi thinks, 'if only I hadn't delayed earlier...'

You sense no magic coming from him, but ...

"HEY! He's got the Gauntlets of Lord Ranthir! That scum!!!" You turn and realize that Sertanian has turned red with rage. He stomps forward and begins pulling off the gauntlets that Sinruth was wearing. He takes great care and once the Gauntlets are free, he busies himself with cleaning and examining them.

You search Sinruth for anything else. He wears medium sized plate armor (rather dull looking) and wields his spiked chain. Other than that and the gloves, now carefully being tended by the Great Hall's castelan, he is carrying nothing else of apparent interest.

Oh silly me, I almost forgot.

In Sinruth's breast pocket is a map of the region showing different routes to Brindol, and a few points picked out for potential ambushes.

There's also a parchment - a letter from "The Emissary"...whoever that is...

"No no no, Lord Ranthir was a commander in the war of the Red Hand 10 years ago. He was killed in battle leading the charge at Bordrin's Watch. This was stolen from the Hall of Great Valor when I was kidnapped.

Filthy goblins! This 'Army' is a joke compared to the real Red Hand. And considering how easily you killed their commander, he must have been quite a wannabe too."

Seriously, nobody senses magic and nothing about any of his gear seems magical.

I thought perception included listening, it is what you perceive with all your senses at least that is how I understood it.

From the compendium:

Within the resting place are someone's remains, dressed carefully in an impressive looking suit of chain mail that has resisted the ravages of time and bodily decomposition.

Upon the chest of the suit is a well made pouch, closed.

The armor is a set of Rebuking Chain +1. The pouch... it seems to have a faint but separate magical feel to its contents, but you haven't specified that you're opening it, so you don't know what's inside yet.

You do not know who is buried in here - you suspect it was a Rivenroar, mainly because this is, after all, the Rivenroar Catacombs, and this particular room holds only one deceased member. It may, however, have been a temporary interment place. The room is oddly unadorned, so it's impossible to be sure.

History tells you nothing of this room.

Let's take 5 and rest up (surge) and catch our breaths.

I'll keep one potion (since I tend to get close to the action and don't have the HP to protect myself) and the other to Tor (he gets beat up alot too). We still have enough reserves to cover ourselves for one more battle, I think. Let's keep going after this rest.

And I still need to find my Father's dagger. My searching has lead me to believe it's here somewhere. I'll tear up every stone if I have to - but I need to find it or find out where it's gone before we leave.

Jacoby is all for saving who we can, but right now trying to go after anyone else could sacrifice everyone trying to find 2 others. We could rest here but things are getting harder than we are prepared for it seems. (IE the encounter levels are going to be getting higher as we go. Not impossible but it will tax our abilities to say the least.)

Oh - one additional note here - since your last rest was less than 12 hours ago, you will have to actually rest until the 12 hour mark has gone by (call it 10 more hours). That will put you into the evening. Since you only need 6 hours of actual sleep, that means you can do a 2-1-2 watch where 2 ppl watch for 3.5, 1 person watches for 3, and 2 people watch for 3.5. Thus Raj could take the 1st or 3rd watch with someone else, if you prefer, and if the party agrees.

I took Leather Armor as my feat. I need more protection.
The utility spell was, iirc, something that let's me or someone else fly. I thought that could be useful.

Meanwhile, Duma and Rajkelleran - roll Endurance please for your Filth Fever.

And it was a long enough rest --- anyone trained in healing may also roll to "tend your illness" and if their heal > your endurance you can use that # instead.

You cannot tend yourself, and if you're sick you can't tend someone else.

You can tend multiple people otherwise. And Mirtala could use tending too, if you've got the skill.

Duma and Mirtala completely recover from the Filth Fever.

Raj, however, looks MUCH worse for wear. Raj, in addition to the loss of 1 surge, you have a -2 penalty to AC, Fortitude and Reflex as long as you remain affected by the disease. (You cannot roll for another attempt to recover until the next extended rest.)
