Of late, this whole campaign feels like it is dragging. What can I do to make the gameplay better?

I'm not sure it is really you, I think people are just busy. I know I am for instance. Desmond has stopped napping regularly which means my time in the afternoons is basically gone, which makes it hard for me to post since I need non being climbed on time to think through moves and what I actually want to do.

That is a very good question.

I don't really know. I can tell you that I have lots of things I MIGHT want to ask / say / tell / do but I find I get confused about what is going on.

Part of that is being spread thin playing in 2 games and DM'ing one. Part of that is how long it takes in this format to progress through adventures. When we get back to the RP stuff, it's hard to remember what happened before and what clues we might have. When I think "We should be wary of X" or "We should ask about Y", I stop and begin to wonder "Is that what was going on in THIS campaign?"

As I DM, I've been struggling with this. I've considered providing routine summaries of where the party is. But I don't want to essentially highlight all the key elements and clues in doing so.

I've thought about asking a player to volunteer to be historian. Said player would track what the party is doing and create a concise, ongoing record of things the party thinks is important. It would also give the DM insight into what the party has missed so, if it's vital, it can be highlighted again later.

In group 2 I started a history thread and told the players to keep notes there so they didn't have to dig through 50000 posts to find something. Not sure how well it's working, though

Other than that, I know sometimes it feels like it drags when, for instance, we got back to town, parade, food, etc. No council members. I waited before posting figuring you were readying the next post, either they were coming out, or we would be told to rest. Eventually I decided they weren't coming out and suggested we head to rest. Then we're stopped and told to wait some more, they'll be right out. Waiting, they come out, and tell us to go rest.

So it took a handful of posts to stop an action, delay an action, and then restart the action. RP narrative advanced, but with minimal information. We could easily have gone to rest when it was initially suggested, and the council comes to us in the morning and apologizes for not being with us the evening before as they were tending to the rescuees. same progression.

OTOH, I do the same in my game, where I have some structure in mind and I need to get to X point in it so the players get Y information, but they veer off early. But they NEED to get Y, so I drag them back. Or I think they need it, at any rate.

Of course, maybe we get assaulted by the council emissary in the night.

Well, just so it's clear - if I stop a post, it's generally because I'm inviting player input, not halting to prepare a new thread or post.

You're doing fine. Like Kiir, I'm just a little stretched thin right now. I think most of the games have slowed in their pace considerably.
