The party creeps up to the opening and peers down the stairs. The darkness swallows up the light about 20 feet down the incline.

How many torches did we bring with us? Can we afford to toss a lit one down the stairs?

If we've only got half a dozen, we've only got 6 hours of light and can't go wasting them...

How many torches did we bring with us? Can we afford to toss a lit one down the stairs? You each have one. So 6 total. It's funny that this is the first group I've seen that didn't include a wizard. Oh, what unique challenges that poses! :D

You can afford tossing one down the stairs if you feel like retreiving it afterwards, yes. :D

Since there wasn't much detail posted...

Sigurd tosses his torch to the bottom of the stairs. It clunks down through the darkness... spiderwebs flare and melt briefly as it passes. The party moves down, and Damelon detects no traps on the stairs. At the bottom, they find themselves at the edge of a foyer of sorts. Sigurd retreives his torch. The light bounces off bas-relief carvings on the walls... more water motif, it appears. There appear to be four openings leading out of this room... counting the stairs you came down. The western one appears to have caved in, but the north and east ones are open, though dark.

Sigurd willl let Damelon check the area for traps, and then he'll take his torch and look down the hallways for a little closer look by looking from the entrance of each hallway.

The party moves around the room by torchlight. The carvings are intricate, and all seem to indicate peaceful scenes involving water. Some depict humans bending and drinking at some sort of fountain. Damelon finds no traps. Moving towards the northern opening, the party finds themselves at the top of another wide set of stairs that leads down to another landing... that appears to have an opening in the side and more stairs to the north. The narrower eastern passageway in this main room looks clear, but the western one is completely caved in.

Updates will be a bit slower than normal because of the season...

The party moves towards the eastern passage and slowly picks it's way down it. The surface plaster of the walls have crumbled down to dust, but the stone underneath still looks solid. They come to an opening at the end of a short hallway. There must have been a wooden door here at one point... you can see where the door has rotten away and only bits of the frame remain. The doorway opens into a long, north/south oriented room that you can't see the other end of yet due to the darkness.

Damelon motions to Crashing to hold and moves to L6 as quietly as he can.

Ignore the 8-5 on the stealth. It is a straight +8 = 28. Perception = 13.

Damelon moves further into the room. The light of Sigurd's torch doesn't extend very far, as he's still in the passageway. Damelon sees another opening leading further east, with a crumbling wooden door that looks like it is about to fall off it's rusty hinges. The room he is in extends north, but he can't see much without Sigurd's torch here. The room is deathly silent. To his left and right there appear to be the remains of heavy wooden tables, most of which have collapsed down to the floor. He sees rusty metal objects strewn about as well.

As the party moves into the room, Sigurd passes the torch to Crashing (Vengelis theme here) who in turn stoops to examine some of the dusty metal items on the floor. He almost immediately recognizes them as metal dishes and cups. Perhaps this was some sort of dining hall? As the light from the torch spreads a bit, the party can see that the room is longer than they thought... they still can't see the far end.

They do hear some sort of flapping, though.
