[Lycos]

"A stranger came from the jungle today. Not one of the regulars. he was tall and thin, but friendly enough. We made him welcome anyway, and it turns out he had some interesting wares to sell, and was happy to see the bustling bazaar. We gave him lodging for the night in the surrounding village and he made a sizeable contribution to the shrine. Very nikce man!"

[Lycos]

Where are they? Where are they? Where are they? Where Where Where"

[Lycos]

The High One walked around a bit today, which is good, but his mind seems to be shaken somehow... which is not good. A few times he stopped talking mid-sentence and seemed to stare off at something far away. We had to make a noise to get his attention again. Very strange. It may be the stress of the illness he just endured.

[Lycos]

"This is the saddest time. We are packing our belongings up for the long walk to the ships, to leave this place forever. The new High One will leave a warning for those who find this place in the future... it's probably best for them if they stay away. I do not think I can write any more today... I feel too sad... it is actually making my belly hurt, I believe; so great is my grief. At least, I hope it is grief?"

[Lycos]

"I've had to lock Mira in her room, she may be completely deranged. I found a huge spider in the pantry too, I have no idea where it came from. I was able to kill it with the help of the fire monkey, and we found it's flesh to be succulent."

[Lycos]

"The High One is very ill. The rest of us are very concerned. He has taken to his bed and we are tending him, but his cramping is quite violent, and he has a fever. I hope he gets better soon! We have suspended ceremonies for the week, to give him the rest he needs."

[Lycos]

"More have the madness. We do not know what causes it, but people are staying away from the shrine in fear, to be safe. Three workers are now ill. One had to be restrained, he is screaming and thrashing so. He does not recognize his family, even! I do not know if it is related to the water, or some sickness from the jungle, because those happen often. The water usually cures that, though... it is odd. Since The High One lept to his death, things have been different. People talk of leaving this place, their faith is very much shaken. The new High One is seriously considering this move, which is truly sad. It is almost too terrible to contemplate... No waters means... Is this the end of our people?"

[Lycos]

“They won’t take her! They say she is too ill and others will catch it. I don’t want her to be alone! Her cough is getting better, even. It is not fair! The old High One would not allow this sort of thing.”

[Lycos]

"I hear Mira yelling, but not so loud now. The fire monkey started screaming too and would not stop, so I killed him with a cleaver. I had no choice."

[Lycos]

“The High One is concerned. Something is wrong with the Two Waters… they do not ‘taste right’ anymore, he says… I cannot tell the difference… I bathed in it as usual today, and though it seemed a big more… bright than usual, all seemed fine… Can water be bright? That’s the best way I can describe it… more, shiny or something. I do not see what the fuss is.”

Ok, so this water is the source of the problem. I'm thinking that we need to fix the water source to really make a big impact.

[Lycos]
