Round 1:

The party steels itself for the onslaught, which comes moments later. Around the corner and out of the dim light ahead of Sigurd (KT has a torch, right?) roars a sickly looking creature (Tainted Cannibal 1) similar to what the group saw near the broken pool. It closes on Sigurd and throws itself mightily against the fighter's defenses. It swings hard with what looks like a crude bone club, and while Sigurd manages to catch a bit of it with the haft of his axe (18 vs AC) the blow caroms up the shaft and strikes the warrior's jaw (DAM: 8) and Sigurd sees stars (Dazed until EoNT). Howling maniacally, the creature tumbles backwards and leaps to it's left, alighting somewhere on the ceiling around the corner.

As Sigurd reels, another creature howls into view (Tainted Soldier), this one scampering along the ceiling. It looks similar but different from the others encountered, appearing a bit burlier, and wears some sort of rusty breastplate of some sort, and a broken helm that covers only the jaw and neck. It drops to the floor directly in Sigurd's face, and wraps sickly-thin arms around the fighter (19 vs REF), pinning him (grabbed).

The group can hear the wailing and tooth-gnashing of more unseen foes around the corner somewhere.

Sigurd...

Actually, though I put both your init mods and inits into the spreadsheet, the summary only shows the unmodded ones... including for the NPC's. Doesn't matter, as the order is right, but I'll repost... sec.

If you're using the spreadsheet I designed, you're supposed to input the mods and the modded inits. The sheet uses the input init for resolving order, and the mods for resolving ties.

Ah, I was thinking the Init+ was actually calculated into the total, but it's only for ties. Gotcha.

Sigurd will perform the Great Cleave...

Great Cleave; (Encounter) +7 attack vs AC, 1d12+4 damage, Close burst 1, Does damage to all enemies in the burst, + 1 damage for each enemy adjacent to you.

Out of sheer adrenaline and fear, Sigurd summons the strength of his ancestors to smite his foes. (I love the word smite!)

23 and 20 vs. AC. Assuming both hit.

17 pts of damage for each.

Roll to attack once or twice? I'll include two just in case.

Wriggling in the grip of the sinewy foe, Sigurd somehow manages to waggle his axe around mightily, striking both of the nasties (ATK 23 vs AC, 18 vs AC, DAM 17), which howl, green goo splashing around.

Upon rolling a 1, Erik moans "Guys...I don't feel good." Then, unable to control his "power", it bursts out of him.

On a 1 push each creature within 5 of you 1 square

Then he moves to D25 to give room to Crashing.

Damelon hurls a dagger (4/5) at the Tainted Soldier with a

Disheartening Strike (rattling, melee or ranged), +9 vs AC, 1W+dex, hit: target is -2 atk until EOMNT

18 vs AC, 5dmg, -2 to atk until EOMNT. This should stack with the mark penalty, afaik.

Huddled down in his pit, Erik hears the sounds of fighting going on above him and imagines for a moment that he's a big hero fighting bad guys. In his mind, he peeks around the corner and aims his hand at the waves of incoming monsters. "PEW PEW PEW!" he emphatically announces, out loud. Then, "KABOOOSH!" he yells, hands spreading apart in front of him as if framing some sort of large explosion. "Aaahh! Oh no! I'm dying!" he squeals, mimicing the cries of his imaginary foes.

10 feet above him, Crashing looks down and quizzically cocks an eyebrow.

Outside the ruins birds suddenly take flight. Back at Lamsi's camp they hear the faint howls of "Doooooooh".

Shaking his head, Crashing lowers a rope to Erik, and between the two of them, they manage to get the caster up and level again. The shaman heads back up the passageway and pushes down the appropriate lever, resetting the pit and closing the trapdoors. He returns to Erik's side.

Three rows back from the front, KT taunts the frenzied tunnel dweller, damaging it's slimy pride and trying to throw it's attention to Crashing (DAM: 6). The creature is covered in hacked open wounds now, and a greenish froth flows from them, though it fights on. (bloodied)

Heartened by KT's success, Damelon throws his dagger at the creature holding Sigurd. His blade finds the greenish flesh, and the fiend howls (DAM: 5). (How many daggers do you have?)

Lamsi leans left and then right and attempts to fire an arrow at the creature, but the opening just isn't there (Natural 1) so she holds her fire.

Round 2

Gurgling and snarling, the ragged looking creature in the loincloth (Tainted Cannibal) reaches it's wiry arms through to assist it's fellow with manhandling Sigurd (assist success).

Somewhere to the east, around the corner, the party hears the gnashing and grinding of teeth (delayed action).

Sigurd, staring down at the sinewy arms that restrain him, notes that a few of the wounds on the stinky creature (Tainted Soldier) have closed. A moment later, he feels another pair of arms grab him (see above) and through their combined effort, the two creatures manage (23+2-2-2 vs FOR) to drag the wriggling fighter to the east. Sigurd, flailing on the ground, sees two slavering beasts scuttle over and past him on the ceiling as he is dragged.

Reaching the party, the foremost (Tainted Corsair 1) flails at Damelon, but the rogue ducks low and easily avoids the blow (12 vs AC: miss).

The hindmost (Tainted Corsair 2) hops madly, but cannot reach Damelon.

Macetails Rage; (Daily) +7 vs Reflex attack, 1d12+4 damage, Hit: 1[W] + Strength modifier (+4) damage, and you knock the target prone. Miss: Half damage. Effect: You enter the rage of the macetail behemoth. Until the rage ends, whenever you hit, you gain temporary hit points equal to your Strength modifier (+4).

18 to hit vs Reflex.

11 pts of damage and 4 thps.

Also, he uses an AP and hits the tainted soldier again with Devastating Strike

Devastating Strike; +7 attack, 1d12+1d8+4 damage, Until the start of your next turn, any attacker gains a +2 bonus to attack rolls against you. If you are raging, attackers do not gain this bonus.

26 to hit.

22 pts of damage.

Not quite liking being handled, Sigurd explodes in a fit of rage! He gets some arm-room with his axe and whirls it towards the creature that grabbed him, cleaving off an arm (11 damage) and then following that up with another arcing swing that cleaves the creature's legs off at the knees. It collapses, gurgling. (Dead)

Damelon has them right where he wants them. He slices at his adjacent enemy (Corsair 1) with a

Riposte Strike (melee), vs AC, 1W+dex, if the target attacks you before the start of your next turn you make a riposte attack as an immediate interrupt, STR vs AC, 1W+str dmg.

14+8 vs AC, 7dmg

Riposte attack roll if triggered: 16 vs AC, 6dmg

Winnin sure be betta than losin. I always figure I be eaten when I get killed, but thought it'd be by a shark or a cousin. Dem things skitten round da wall ain't natural.

I think dey probably fine up there. Dis seem like a pretty good group.

KT tries to follow up his previous success by taunting the foremost foe and trying to con it into going after Crashing, but the creature (14 vs REF: miss) doesn't lose focus on Damelon. Not willing to settle for a complete loss, the bard urges Damelon on with soothing words (+10hp, +4THP).

Then he turns and regales Erik and Crashing to a play-by-play involving hand-puppets.

Eyes shining, Erik squeals and claps, gleefully.

Damelon stabs forcefully at the closest, gristly creature and strikes home (DAM 7) and then awaits return fire.

Lamsi leans around the rogue and this time her arrow finds it's mark on the jittery beast (DAM: 5).

End of Round 2

Round 3

The Tainted Cannibal tumbles south, leaping to it's feet to confront Sigurd again and sweeps a grotesque arm vainly through the air (10+2 vs AC: miss).

The Corsair in front of Damelon does not disappoint, and swings a rusty cutlass at the rogue (23 vs AC, DAM: 5-4=1). Damelon is dazed, but in his stupor still manages to retaliate (DAM: 6). The creature howls, it's lower jaw nearly dislocating in the act.

The Corsair flanking Sigurd meets with better success, slashing at the warrior (18+2 vs AC, DAM: 10+6). Sigurd is bloodied and dazed.

It gives me a surge. Add the additional 3 hps if that attack kills the Cannibal.

Damelon will use Dazing Strike on Tainted Corsair 1:

Dazing Strike (melee), +8 vs AC, 1W+dex, hit: the target is dazed UEOMNT.

20 vs AC, 8dmg, dazed

AP: Riposte Strike again. this time with CA +10 vs AC, d6+3+2d6+3

25 vs AC, 13dmg

Riposte attack (immediate interrupt remember so it happens before the target's attack), 25 vs AC, 4dmg (+8 sneak attack damage if I can do that, understanding that sneak attack damage can only be applied once per round but it would be a new round)

Sigurd, feeling woozy, still manages to connect with the Tainted Cannibal (13 vs AC, DAM: 15, +4 THP). His blade lops off the critter's noggin, which rolls north, around the corner. Encouraged, Sigurd flexes and poses, regaining vigour (+11 HP).

There you go Sig - I can't heal you directly but you can get SOMETHING from that.

Crashing and Erik trade college stories.

Trying to be helpful, KT curses at the Corsair around the corner, but it doesn't appear to hear him. (8 vs WIL: Miss) He senses that Sigurd heard, though, and will be helped somewhat.

Damelon fares a bit better, his blade flashes as he cuts deep gouges into the Corsair nearest him (DAM: 8, Dazed, DAM: 13) with a pair of masterful cuts. The Corsair is oozing froth from all over now.

Lamsi fires another quarrel and this one strikes the Corsair between the eyes. It slumps, dead.

End of Round 3

Round 4

Seeming to be ignorant (or completely apathetic to) his allies falling, Tainted Corsair fights on, surprising Sigurd with a wicked slice (Crit, DAM: 11+6-4) which staggers the fighter. It leans back, unhinges it's lower jaw and bellows a horrific howl of anger.

KT steps around Damelon and offers a word of encouragement to the harried fighter (+11 HP). He then taunts the Corsair into attacking Damelon (DAM 5).

Damelon shifts north to put some hurt on the final mutant, but in his eagerness to get flanking position, he stumbles a bit and his attack misses (13 vs AC: miss).

Lamsi's aim is thrown off by the all the people tromping by her (12 vs AC: miss). She frowns at KT.

The Corsair grips it's cutlass in it's teeth, leaps to the ceiling, and scampers over Sigurd. (KT, Damelon and Sigurd can take OA's) It drops to the floor to the east of the fighter, and swings at him, but misses (11 vs AC).

I'll resolve the OA's first.

Question: An OA from flanking gives flanking bonus? If so, add SA damage. Since an OA is triggered when a target tries to leave a threatened square, he is technically still flanked at the time of the OA attack.

The party creeps east, Damelon in the lead. At the junction, looking east he sees that at the extent of his vision, the tunnel turns north. He can't see very far to the south (corner occluding torch) but he can tell that the passageway opens up into a larger room, that much is clear.

Stealth rolls, all.

Damelon urges the others to try to remain quiet as they arrive at the NWS junction. The room to the south is definitely large, though Damelon can't judge it's purpose in the dim light. He sees the vague outline of some broken down furniture, it looks like. Somewhere behind him, Damelon hears Erik whisper, loudly, "WHAT DID HE SAY? WHAT DID HE SAY? SHOULD I BE QUIET?". He frowns, but keeps his eyes locked on the passage south.

I assume you are you headed south into the room? If not, stop me now. :)

In efforts not to belabour this...

Damelon stiffens with a start, whirls, grabs KT's torch as he passes him and jogs back the way you just came. Hops the first pit, reaches the second, then carefully manipulates the lever while safely standing in the alcove. He drops down into the re-opened trap, snags the boots and then, holding them in his teeth, jumps and grabs the lip of the trap. Wriggling and grunting, he reaches the top, resets the doors, then returns to the party after hopping over the first pit again.

No sense making you re-do all those acro/athletics rolls and making Crashing/Erik even MORE bored. :D

Separately, that entire fight I forgot my +1 damage from my level 2 feat. Going forward, base dmg with the doublesword is d6+4, not +3.

Damelon hands the boots to KT who turns them over a few times. Something rattles, so he reaches in gingerly and removes... a few toe bones. KT looks at the bottoms and notes that the soles are very cushy... the wearer would definitely walk quieter in these. They appear to be only marginally magical... in that they haven't decayed as the rest of this place has. "Good boots for a burglar, I'd say..." KT states, shrugging and handing them back to Damelon.
