The last of the skeletons laying in bones before the party, they catch their breath and ...

Assuming you're going to take a short rest and spend surges, this is where you stand after the battle

Fia will surge once and examine the... bodies?

DirkDarkBlade
11th June 2010, 05:04 PM
Dirk will also surge. Were the skele's wearing anything with pockets or pouches?

EricStratton

Watcher will surge once (45 HP, 5 surges remaining). Zero One will use one of his two daily surges (61 HP, 1 surge remaining for the day).

drathos

Belvar will use a single surge to top off his health (11 remaining)

Fia pokes at the bones with her foot, but a couple rusty weapons is all she finds. And not much of that as latter attackers appear to have been using their own bodies for weapons.

If you want to search the pits, I'm going to need stated intent and a roll

Fia will just peek down into it for anything obviously out of the ordinary.

DirkDarkBlade
18th June 2010, 04:38 PM
If Fia doesn't notice something Dirk will climb down into the pit (Acrobatics 15, trained) and have a quick search (Perception 11). Then he'll climb back out. Edit: I almost forgot to roll Stealth.

attriel
14th July 2010, 11:33 PM
Looking down into the pit, Fia notices the glint of clean worked steel. When Dirk climbs down, she directs him toward it and he fishes a large shield (Bloodsoaked Shield (http://www.wizards.com/dndinsider/compendium/item.aspx?id=2548)) from the piles of bones and decay.

Dirk, being Dirk, also manages to snag coin purses out of the pit without the worn fabric tearing. Once out, he inspects then to find about 500gp worth of various coins and small gems.

I'm going to go ahead and pull a Varsuuvius here ...

Actually, I can't. But I am going to go ahead and move the group on :o

Here's the map from last time : http://www.legendsofwestwood.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=2102&d=1269311434 and you'll be moving to Bacross Cvertical ; I can't update the map b/c I drew it before my laptop died AFAICT, so I don't have the files. And it was such a ****ty map, I don't want to go through the effort of reproducing it :o

Moving on from the pits, the group splooshes towards the remnants of a pair of towers. Nearing it, they realize that there must have been some houses around the bases of the tower, for the foundations can still be seen.

DinbinFanfoom
15th July 2010, 07:55 AM
Fia will look around the foundations. Especially for sneaky monsters first...

Result: 27

Did they burn down? Abandoned and fell down? Anything interesting in the ruins?

EricStratton
15th July 2010, 12:13 PM
Nature 4+10, what are these towers?

DirkDarkBlade
15th July 2010, 12:59 PM
Dirk will use his perception to investigate the towers. To see if they look sound (would going inside and up look safe), to see if any mobs are about, and of course to see if there are any shiny sparkly items left lying about.

attriel
16th July 2010, 04:09 PM
There don't appear to be any creatures anywhere in the area. The rain is still messing with Zero One's nose, however.

The stones that remain of the towers suggest that the buildings had been quite large and well fashioned. The topmost stones look to have ... melted? And while it's clear that these had been very large towers, there is not enough debris to have constituted one, let alone both, towers.

Fia meanwhile examines the ruins of the houses that once resided here. They appear to have been razed. Their remains are still evident, scattered around, away from the towers.

Zero One is quivering, making it quite clear that here is what he was sensing from the edge of the wood.

I presumed you were doing external examinations and mostly looking for monsters and traps; no one has entered any of the buildings or their remains

DinbinFanfoom
21st July 2010, 12:06 PM
Fia will poke around the razed houses in a more thorough fashion.

DirkDarkBlade

attriel
15th August 2010, 10:19 AM
Dirk cannot find anything worth taking from the ruined shells, but he does discover that one of the houses appears to have collapsed inwards, almost as though a sinkhole opened up and sucked everything in.

Fia, meanwhile, discovers another house that has partially broken down. The ground slopes away at this one, leading into an underground passage of some sort. Too dark to tell without climbing down it how far it goes.

I figured out my new dungeon tool, I think, although I can't tell it how to populate with the mobs I WANT yet, so last attempt had a group of a named skirmisher, along with two aqua trolls ... so I may be doing encounters by hand still :o

DinbinFanfoom
16th August 2010, 10:06 AM
Fia will call Dirk over.

"Dirk? Please be a darling and scurry down there and check that tunnel out, won't you? Thanks!"

DirkDarkBlade
16th August 2010, 10:55 AM
Um guys, what kind of monster sucks a house down from underground?

DirkDarkBlade
16th August 2010, 11:03 AM
Dirk shrugs and climbs down the hole using his rope/grapling hook to see how deep the tunnel is and if anything is down there.

attriel
16th August 2010, 11:21 PM
Dirk starts to walk down the tunnel, but quickly runs out of light. He can tell that the tunnel slopes at least 30' down and forward, with a slight twist preventing the cloudy sun from illuminating further.

I'll keep your perception roll for once the group decides how to proceed; but no one has mentioned a light source for going into an underground tunnel. And I didn't know how far you wanted to go alone and in the dark :o

EricStratton

I assume we all have adventure packs w/ sun rods. I'll have to find the pdfs to be sure.

Dirk is willing to use one of his lightsources (whatever is in his pack) and keep peeking down the tunnel (scouting ahead).

DIRK! Round 0, one action (Move, Standard, Minor)

DirkDarkBlade
31st August 2010, 11:46 AM
Dirk will recognize the benefit of being one with the party. So he'll use his Tumble utility Power (Move) to shift up to 6 spaces back towards the party. Dirk will hold up seven fingers towards his party mates as he gets close and call out "I think we'll only need one of the dragon's to fight for us this time."

attriel

Dirk will describe the warforged and any other mobs he recognized. Rolling monster knowledge.

attriel
11th September 2010, 10:16 PM
Dirk describes a handful of odd-looking warforged. They're not as refined as the ones you've encountered in towns and the like, almost as though they're early variants. Well armored, obviously constructed for power and attacking. And probably waking up.

He also describes some form of undead monstrosity (humanoid), crystals with weapons, and a puddle with teeth ...

I can find pictures of Warforged and the undead thing. The other two I can't find pictures online for, so I can't really show them to you. Sorry :/

DirkDarkBlade
13th September 2010, 11:37 AM
Dirk will attempt to use his Stealth (+15) ability to blend into the wall so he won't be the first thing the warforged see when they enter the area. He is prepared to attack (armor on etc). He will follow the parties advice and not go down the hallway.

Seriously? You're gonna make me draw a new map just so you can fight in the hall? oi, you people!

Round 4:

Belvar, Dirk, Fia, and Watcher stand around exchange looks. "Dirk, you're sure things were actually moving? You didn't just knock over a bucket or something and set off a racket and ran back to tell us it was a cave troll so no one said anything? They're actually dead maybe?"

The first of the clankers comes around the bend and up to Belvar and Watcher, bringing it's arm and blade around in a sweeping stroke (13 vs AC Belvar, miss, 4 dmg; 29 vs AC Watcher, hit, 12 dmg).

The second comes up and repeats the motion (29 vs AC Belvar, hit, 9 dmg ; 23 vs AC Watcher, hit, 9 dmg)

The third comes around and paces behind the first two, obviously unable to reach anyone.

Down to Althaea now, the SN does not appear. The CT and DS also did not appear at their turns.

Althaea hates this hall since it doesn't give her enough room to call her spirit companion to an area that would actually help the group, complaining in her head she summons her spirit companion into F4 (minor) and then calls tells him to attack BWP3 using Voice of Battle (+10 vs Will, 1d6+4 psychic damage, one ally within 2 squares of my spirit companion can shift 2 squares are a free action (no one is 2 squares from my spirit companion)). She then waits to see what the rest of the party does.

Hmm. Maybe luring them down the hallway was too restrictive. :lowlol:

Watcher marks BWP2 as his quarry and then attacks it with Claws of the Griffon.

CotG 1: 4+12 vs AC
Dmg 1: 2d8+7 = 17 dmg
CotG 2: 17+12 vs AC

attriel
30th September 2010, 07:41 PM
Watcher and Zero One target BWP2. Zero, however, is left to pace angrily, unable to reach his foe. Watcher strikes in quick succession, the first strike clanging against the constructs natural armor, the second striking true (16 vs AC, miss; 29 vs AC hit, 11 dmg)

Fia grins at her targets, funnelled into the hall like a dragon's buffet line. Like the dragon, she prefers them well done, and strikes them all with burning fury (25 vs Ref, hit; 21 vs Ref, hit; 25 vs Ref, hit; 14 dmg).

Belvar, seeing how things have played out, strikes at BWP1, shearing off an entire layer of rust (28 vs AC; 17 dmg; 4 dmg BWP2)

Dirk is assuming he can use his Clever strike against the mob BWP1. The description says "If an ally is adjacent to the target and is able to attack it, you have CA against the target for this attack." This is the case even though I'm one square off (behind Belvar). But I'm not certain if the CA really applies.

Clever Strike +13 attack (+1 for CA - Nimble Blade), 1d6+6 damage. If CA applies then Sneak Attack 2d8+4 (per round).

Edit: I'm glad to see the dice haven't changed to liking me any better since I've been gone...sigh

Well, the CA would apply, but it's a melee attack. You're behind Belvar & Watcher, you can't hit the mobs with melee. I mean, you can stab Belvar I suppose, but limited usefulness there.

Dirk flings his dagger at the warforged, but it glances harmlessly off it's metal body before returning to his hand.

The first Warforged attempts to strike Belvar and misses (Natural 1), but the second brings it's blade around striking Watcher (26 vs AC, 10 dmg) and nicking Belvar (18 vs AC, miss, 4dmg)

The remaining one strikes at the Spirit companion (25 vs AC, 14 dmg) but does no apparent harm (Near as I can tell, unless it takes 1/2 of Althaea's Max HP in a single hit, it doesn't die)

Suddenly BWP 1 strikes at Belvar, the blow landing solidly, Belvar having just ducked a shot (Crit, 7 dmg Prone; 4 dmg to Watcher)
