as to a fast/easy way to drop a few pounds before the end of August (besides methamphetamines :P)? I'd like to not look like a blob when I get to Cleveland.

From everything I read, an Atkins/Zone/Low carb diet will drop weight quicker than simply reducing all calories. I would suggest that it be a short term thing, as the amount of fat and protein that you take in during the diet can have serious long term side effects. Couple this with increased activity (including honest to goodness exercise if you choose), and you ought to lose a few pounds or more by the end of August. Hopefully. And rather healthily.

P.S. I suggest reading about Low carb diets before trying it. The person you know who eats nothing but bacon and eggs is NOT on a healthy low carb diet. It includes a large amount of fruits, vegetables, and fiber as well as higher levels of fats and proteins than the classic American diet.

Ditto of what Xanulin posted. A low carb diet will get you there quick, but you need to include high fiber low carb veggies into your meal plan.

personally, I don't think there is any healthy way to lose a lot of weight fast. Of course, I'm not a doctor, so it's just my oppinion and common sense. Also, whatever I say probably won't mean much since it's now almost the end of august anyway.. *shrug*
