Yeah, it's early but I wanted to lay out my view of my first match against Drax. My players will be the first one listed and points are from my perspective.

Brooks vs Pennington: Pennington gets the edge against a weak Cinci D. -3pts
Harrison vs Walker: Harrison had 2x the touches last year. +3pts
Warrick vs Stallworth: Warrick had 3x the touches in 2003. +5pts
Lewis vs Holmes: Denver D is crap. Priest will own. -8pts
Duckett vs Dillon: Dillon will get 2x the carries. -8pts
Johnson vs Dayne: Dayne sucks, but Johnson won't get much either. +0.5pts
Seattle vs Dallas: I have the edge w/ Dallas playing Minn. +3pts

Total: -7.5pts

It doesn't look to good for me.

Fun idea, Shiz. :)

I have a different take on things... (Shocker!) ... (Or since it's football season, I should say Shockeyer!)

- Brooks vs Pennington: I think Penn has the edge, since the NO run D will stop Martin/Jordan, forcing Penn to throw more. Will find Moss and McCareins for TDs to open the year, tho' I'd not be upset if Brooks found Stallworth for a score or two. :)
- Harrison vs Walker: Harrison clearly will outplay Walker, tho' this should be Walker's breakout campaign, tho' starting off against Carolina will be rough.
- Warrick vs Stallworth: Depends on whether Palmer starts at QB for the year. If so, I'd give Stallworth the edge over Seattle pass D.
- Lewis vs Holmes: Denver D should be pretty good this year, but still Priest will own. -8pts
- Duckett vs Dillon: Dillon should do well against Indy, and I don't have high esteem for Duckett at the start of the year, tho' against SF, Duck could easily get 30+yds and a TD.
- Johnson vs Dayne: Dayne will be a surprise to most this year, as he finally earns his Thunder role to complement Barber's lightning. Until Dayne becomes the feature back and Butterfingers Barber takes a seat by week 5. :) Also keep in mind that I'll like play Julius Jones instead, here, especially if he's named the starter over Eddie.
- Seattle vs Dallas: Dallas had a top 3 defense last year, and managed to keep many of the same players. I think this is closer to a push.

I think I still have the edge during this contest, but it'll be down to 1-2 players only, as opposed to half. Plus don't forget I have the X-Factor ... The Human Sneeze, aka Itula Mili!

Looking forward to it! :)

Oh, and I think the most entertaining battles during week 1 will be between Ash - Lycos and between Gratzyn - Kristin. Those ought to be fun, close matchups. :)

Dang, I wish the football season would get here quicker... :)

Oh, one thing I wanted to post, just b/c I thought it was entertaining ...

I read a forum response to the question
I always have a few players i absolutely will not draft because I would cringe knowing i'd have to count on them (i.e. jake plummer)... any guys you would just avoid?
The response
My all-avoid team: Bulger, Tiki, Emmitt, Wayne, Kennison, Freddie Jones, Doug Brien, Seattle D.

Sorry, Shiz... :)

hehe. Well, I always have the NYG.

What happened between 2003 and 2004? I obviously did no Defense research.

No worries. :) Given what's left on the waiver wire, they'll make a decent backup defense, or you could play the matchups. (As to what happened, their line has had a couple key injuries, and the LBs are not exactly the best in the league...)

Speaking of matchups ... Raveneye, I was looking ahead to our matchup in Week 7, since I as the young Grasshoppah have much to learn and I was wondering when that would take place ... Aside from the fact all everyone but my backup QB, my only kicker, and my backup TE plays that week, and only half of your entire team plays that week ... Well, I'll let you fill in the rest... ;)

My team will look vastly different by Week 7 my friend, that you can count on!

Ouch.

So your road to the Superbowl will take 2 years, then?

Well, at least this isn't the Drax & Shiz Show anymore. Barely.

C'mon people. I want to here what everyone is thinking.

Heh, sorry. Looking at the matchups I have for week 1, I almost pity Rubi.

That said he'll probably crush me by 30 points now.

For being clueless, you certainly have an imposing team. :) Seriously. :)

I'd made one switch, were I you, then I'd think you'd be golden. :D

hey will someone that know what they are doing take a look at my team. I am sure you guys would like to a competive league verses a lopside one. I got auto drafted and think i am ok, but i just dont know enough about the players or even how to read the stat pages. So some contructive directing would be great. and yeah i know i think i need a second defense...

Let me give it a shot.

Green vs McCown - I have no idea about McCown so he must be sketchy.
Bruce vs Moss - Pretty clear your team will get owned here.
Bennet vs -Empty- - Gotta go with Bennet here. :D
Hearst vs Jones - Tough call. Mediocre backs on teams without a big air attack against mediocre defenses. I would favor Jones if pressed.
Davenport vs -Empty- - Davenport isn;t going to see much action, but he can beat -Empty-. :D
Miller vs Crumpler - I expect a good season from Crumpler, but TEs are impossible to predict on a game-by-game basis.
Jackson vs Smith - Smith will actually play in week1.
Elam vs Graham - Graham will have more kicking opportunities.
KC vs StL - Ari will be horrible so I give StL the edge in week 1, but KC should be much stronger for the season as a whole.

Overall, you have a lot of backup players for RB, a position that is supposed to generate a good core of points week in and week out. You got completely screwed with that Williams autodraft and it shows.

You also don't need 2 DEF from the get go.

I have no idea. I'm waiting to see how the regular season starts to pan out. I'll have a better idea when the pre-season is over, and the teams begin to play real ball! :D

First off, Bennett v -Empty- is a push. :) Bennett has been scratched from the season opener with a *shocking* ankle/leg injury. Plus, were I Kristen, I'd rather play Suggs instead of Bennett any day, but that's just me. :)

Secondly, I'd strongly advise against not having 2 DEFs. We have 16 teams in the league, and with BYE weeks 32 defenses would be needed. Were every team to take 2, guess how many DEFs we'd have left? :) Plus there are not too many DEFs left anyway, and those are subquality, mostly. (There's still 1-2 I wouldn't mind having as a backup, but most I'd stay away from...)

Just some thoughts... :)

OK, The Warriors of the Wiggle are taking on some Midwest Bashers to open the season. I'm not terribly happy with my first game matchup, as the Bashers are one of the teams that seemed to draft many of the players I would have tried to get ahold of had I been able to, thus they look very solid to me.

Anyway, here's my take:

QB Maddox vs Bulger Tommy has a lot of receiving options, so should have a solid but not spectacular game. Bulger is playing an Arizona D that should allow him to air it out with abandon. Edge: Bulger -6 points

RB Portis vs. Barlow Portis is looking to prove he can play in his new uniform. Barlow has real talent, but his excellent fullback is now sitting out the first game, which means less holes to run through. Edge: Portis +2 points

RB Davis vs. Staley This one depends a lot on how healthy both backs stay through the course of the games. I really like Staley in PIT, but Davis has a nice upside as well. Edge: Even

WR Johnson vs. Fitzgerald Josh McCown is one of my sleeper picks this year. That said, David Carr already has much more experience, and a better O-Line to hide behind. Edge: Johnson +2

WR Mason vs. Owens I hear they're sold out of Sharpies in Philly. I think TO will be a Top 5 WR this year no doubt, but I also think Mason is the real deal and will benefit from having a rock solid veteran QB. Too early to tell on both counts. Edge: Even

TE Winslow vs. Clark I have a nagging suspicion Winslow will get more receptions than any of the Browns wideouts. Clark is Manning's safety valve, but that Harrison guy gets most of the catches. Edge: Winslow +1

WR Burleson vs. Wayne Battle of the also-rans. Could any two guys have a more similar job description in the NFL? Moss and Harrison are 1&2 atop nearly ever WR list, which leaves these two schmoes begging for leftovers. Edge : Wayne -1, just cause he's been at it longer.

K Stover vs. Wilkins Both the Ravens and the Rams look to be lighting it up on offense this weekend. The only sure thing is that both of these guys will be pretty tired by the end of their games... Edge: Even

DEF Miami vs. Seattle Everyone is high this year on SEA defense, but I need to see it to believe it. They also play NO, who have some decent offensive weapons. The MIA/TEN game however could be played in a freaking monsoon (as of today it's still on for 1pm SUN), which makes nobody but the defenses there happy. Edge: MIA +2

So lets' see, that +6/-6 for a total of EVEN. Interesting! Since most of the Bashers players are facing weaker defenses this week, I'd have to give the overall edge to them by a slight margin. However, this is Week 1, where anything can (and will) happen, so it'll likely be a close game either way.

Good luck to everyone on opening weekend!

Sorry I didn't get my thoughts in here yet, but at this point I didn't want to make comparisons because I still wasn't sure who was starting.

I'll try to make an appearance for our week 2 matchups.

As for the 'Wiggle Projection' :P , only 2 things I see differently. I think Owens is going to have the best point income of any of my players, except maybe Bulger. And I think Winslow is going to have a much bigger edge over Clark, especially after seeing Clark's stat line from Thursday night. 1 rec. for 64 yd. :?

I have to say I am happy with my players so far. 12pts for a TE is sweet goodness.
