Well, I don't know how to start, so I may as well come right out and say it .... I've been ... involved ... with another fantasy football league. I hope you're not all upset at me, but I wasn't getting a complete "fix" from here, so I had to seek it elsewhere... I'm sorry, I hope you will forgive me ... er ...

*blink, blink*

Er, anyway, had my other FFL draft on Sun 8/29, and I think it went very well. It's an 8team league, with 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF, and a mirror image of positions for the bench. (Read: Fixed bench, not free like our league.) Most surprisingly, the draft with 5 people (self included) at the commissioner's house, 2 in KC, and 1 in Springfield MO, only took ~1hr 20min. Everyone was very happy and surprised, so we (those at the commish's house) went to Fast Eddie's Bon Air for a quick bite to fill the rest of the time. :) First time there; great food; kinda odd atmosphere - lively for a bar, tho'.

I drafted 5th in the snaking draft, and ended up with a quality team:
QB - McNabb, Pennington
RB - Deuce, Corey Dillon, Chris Brown, Julius Jones
WR - Starvin' Marvin Harrison, Andre Johnson, Justin McCareins, Justin Gage, Freddie Mitchell, Reggie Williams
TE - Kellen Winslow Jr, Matt Schobel
K - Josh Brown, John Hall
D - Dallas, GB

Tried to keep a lot of similar faces to our league, making easier to keep track of during the season. (Pennington, Dillon, Jones, Mitchell, Schobel, Hall, Dallas are the "only" repeats, but that's practically half my team in the westwood league. :))

Only one guy in the league is doing FFL for the first time, but there were some kinda odd or surprising "mistakes" made during the draft. First, the guy who drafted Mike Vick had plenty of chances to draft Peerless Price but failed to do so, taking instead Marcus Robinson and Donte Stallworth. Stallworth should do fairly well this season, but I've heard very mixed reviews about MR.

Another shocker was that TJ Duckett made it all the way until the 17th round. I feel he's not going to live up to his potential bigtime this season, but he still likely should've gone before the TEs or Ks.

And another shocker was that Carson Palmer and David Carr were not selected during the draft. The fact that Eli Manning was taken isn't a shock, since only 16 QBs could be selected, given the league's layout, but that Jake Delhomme and Mark Brunell were taken over Carr shocked the heck outta me...

Anyway, these are my thoughts. I think I made a good showing, and have one of the better looking teams this season, in this league. Wish I could've snagged Shaun Alexander (taken 4th) instead of Deuce, as I have some serious doubts about the O-line in NO and the lead blocker, but I'd rather have Deuce over Edge, Jamal Lewis, or Portis.... We'll see, tho'... :)
