Well, nothing's really changed for me; eating or exercise. I did wander out the other night and bought a digital scale, so now I can tell for sure that there's not much progress. Not as bad as I expected though, at 160 pounds. For many years I was 150-155, so this isn't too bad. Most annoying thing (and the one that will make me do something) is that I can't fit into some of my jeans and slacks anymore. Too much belly. This needs to change.

I weighed myself a couple of weeks ago. 260. That was surprising b/c I felt like I'd lost weight. And I don't really look 260. My friends all said I looked 220-240. Not sure what that means. But I am watching what I eat a lil closer now.

I keep yo-yo-ing. I hit my 170, then went back up to 174 the next day.

I'm not sure how much harder I'm going to work to take more off. I'd much prefer to try to maintain a reasonable diet so I stop feeling hungry and stop feeling the need to binge on sweets because I don't get anything.

Well, I was at 179 a month ago but am now back up to 185. :( Now, I haven't been really trying so it shows... I am still down from my high of 198, but would still like to get down to 175 or even 170. Again, this will require me to get off my butt more than anything. I will try cutting out the Coke and sweets again this month (other than Thanksgiving) and "try" to get in at least 3 half hour trips to the gym or at least walks around my neighborhood a week.

Oh man, Thanksgiving. I forgot all about that. So much for losing any weight this month.

Yeah, it wouldn't be so bad this year since we are not hosting (so no leftovers) but we are doing the two family thing and so having the meal two different days! I need to loose 3 or 4 pounds in advance of this just to break even for the month!

What kind of scale? I've found with a digital scale that it helps to reset it if you're questioning the numbers. I just got a digital scale and had the same thing. I reset it (for mine, step on, step off, and wait; now calibrated to zero) and got the number I expected. Depending on how sensitive they are, should be recalibrated if moved at all.

If its an analog dial scale, well... hmm.

I still miss the weight-balance scale my parents had. Think of the type at the doctor's office and shrink it a bit. Dead-on accurate.

It's digital. We have to move it out of the way every time we're done with it cause there's no room to leave it out. But it's *supposed* to re-calibrate every time (we have to tap the corner, wait for it to zero and then can step on it). /shrug

I'm not that concerned with 4 pounds. If it started being much MORE than that, I'd be worried.

I had my physical today and I am 2 pounds less than last year. Doc said that is good since, on average, Americans gain 4lbs per year. I have cut back (but not cut out) bagels and soft drinks in the last few months.

I would recommend the following (for what it is worth):

Do NOT wiegh your self more than once a week. (Try once a month if you can stand it). And weigh in at the same time of day and day of week (if weekly) as you normally wiegh yourself). Your weight will change based on time of day (sometimes significantly).

Don't panic if you are up a couple of pounds one week (or give up).

For Thanksgiving: Cut back on your other meals that week (but do not fast). Then pick your favourite foods for Thanksgiving (and Christmas) dinner. Don't eat things just because they are available. If you really like stuffing get that but if you aren't big on the chips and velveta appetizer skip that. It can also help to look up calorie, fat, carb, or point info on the different traditional Thanksgiving day fare.

or

Just right off the day of Thanksgiving and eat what you want. Provided you stick to your program before and after that day it shouldn't hurt your progress too much. (Leftovers can be a problem so if you're hosting get lots of zip lock type baggies and send left overs home with the guests).
