I recently discovered that I can edit rosters for people as Commissioner. Should I do this for those not playing attention or not? All I would do is swap out people injured since there are no more byes.

It would make things a bit more competitive, on the other hand it wouldn't really be fair to those who haven't already played a game against one of the "adbandoned" teams as it's usually a guaranteed win (not always though, as I myself got beat by a team missing a QB,WR AND RB! ).

Without unanimous support (from active participants) I am not going to do anything - other than the playing around I already did that doesn't affect the standings at all. For the record:

Ethyr Avengers
week 10: swapped E. Smith for T. Jones

Big Blue
week 10: swapper K. Boller for S. McNair

Psychobilly Cats
week 10: swapped R. Johnson for Q. Griffin

This changes nothing as far as the standings go. I list them here so I can change them back if anyone objects. You don't even need a reason.

It just really bugs me that we have so many absentee owners.

Hmm... could you be referring to me?

Despite good intentions, I just have NOT been able to remember to get over to that site and make changes. At least, not until I see games on Sunday morning.

For my team, go ahead and make changes as you like. I started the season having fun, but have generally lost interest since then (for unknown reasons, but its NOT the company!). Apologies for whatever my lack of participation may have caused.

edit: hey, you stealth edited before I finished replying!

As much as I'd like the competition level to increase, I don't think this is a good idea. It's a noble idea, Shiz, but really has more cons than pros, imo. Leave your three changes as they are, but please do not do any more changes in the future.

no harm intended... no harm done

but if you started tinkering with absent-t teams that would open up the ability for aprove trades and such... and trust me I would love to pick up a player or 2 from abandoned teams... :P

It was more just tinkering with a recently discovered tool than anything else. I am going to be highly skeptical of any trades involving the bottom 3 teams over the coming weeks.

I understand where you're coming from, and I actually think it would have been fine had it been from Week 3 on out (i.e. early enough not to cause any disparity). It's something most leagues struggle with in an effort to provide an even playing field. Many leagues have the Commish make changes according to a structure like:

Bye week player gets replaced with highest scoring bench player from previous week.

Injured player gets dropped and replaced with highest point total player of that position from free agency.

In situations where a bench player does not exist to replace a bye week player the Commish picks up any active player from FA that fits the position and drops the lowest scoring bench player on the team.

All of these things can get people into trouble. I personally would not approve of anything involving FA or the waiver wire, only subs from the teams bench. If a team runs out of bench, then too bad, they take zeros.

However, since we're already 10 weeks into the season starting that now would be unfair to those people who didn't get a "free week" against an unmanaged team. I agree that we should leave it be for now. Hopefully none of these teams make it into the playoffs...

I think it is statistically impossible at this point. Well, there still are 5 games, but the total points are so low I have a had time imagining it.

I put my response on the team web site. Not that I don't trust Shiz, but we have left it as is from the beginning, and it places Shiz into a strange position when something he may do benefits his team. Neutrality can be called into question if you start making changes that benefit your team whether intentional or not.

It's best to leave it alone.

Just for the record, after working last week and with my PC out this weekend early, I simply forgot to get over there this week. I *have* been watching my team. Also, Rubi has, he just only has two players worth anything (Big Ben and Bettis).

I really don't care, personally. Neither does Rubi. But if others have a problem with it, then I'll go with the majority on this one.

The other part is that, yeah, many of those teams you would be changing have little chance of playoffs. But if you start tweaking their players, you may affect the outcome of games against those who should make the playoffs, meaning you still affect the outcome of the season, if indirectly. So while it's a good idea in several ways, I agree with Lycos and say leave it be.
