Let's consolidate the rest of the chatter here. It is going to be a close one for most of us.

I figure 2 wins gets me in for sure. I have the luck of playing Felwithe in week 13 so I need to beat Erudite or Big Blue. Even if I lose both of those but score high, I have a decent shot.

I am concerned about Drew Brees. The kid has been on fire and is bound to have a bad week here, but I cannot bench him given the matchups. I expect my TE drought to end as well. The signs were there last night.

Well, I have a good shot of getting in. I have a one game buffer that keeps me ahead of the pack, but that could vanish with one bad week. I had to make adjustments to my WRs this week. Most of my WRs weren't doing much for me lately. Seems that they are falling out of favor with the QBs and/or the coaches. As long as I can keep up with some late season hot shots, I should get in to the playoffs. :D

I think Vick's slow start doomed me. I need to win out, and get some help, and even then my low point total makes me a long shot. I really needed a win this week. I've been hovering around .500 all season, and that's just not going to be good enough. :(

Well, I have a good shot of getting in.

You chump. You have realistically clinched a playoff berth as far as I can tell.

Once Priest makes it back into the game, my chances will rise dramatically. I have a good squad who seems to have had some bad luck recently in terms of whom I'm playing in our league, not in terms of their performance. Most of the victories in our league, during the course of the season, have been in the 20-30pt range. Three of my five losses have been by 4.95 (week 11 v Z), 4.48 (week 6 v Quervo), and the crowning gem - 0.49 (week 2 v VV); not complaining here, just fact.

As far as the remainder of the regular season, I should be in good shape... I need to win at least 2, possibly all 3, but that should be feasible.

Week 12:
Gaulron, who has an IR player (Terry Glenn), StL defense, and a hobbling QB in Tim Rattay. Also has a benched QB on his bench. Then again, he most probably has a returning Randy Moss, which could be the game-breaker. *prays not*
I, on the other hand, have a good WR and a decent (but inconsistent) WR option, and a good and a couple fair RBs. And a possibly returning Priest Holmes against SD defense, which could cinch things.

Week 13:
Erudite: Vick's been pretty good recently, and Boldin may kick it up a notch after one more week's play. His gamebreaker is Curtis Martin against Houston, which could spell bad news for me.
Then again, I have Dillon against Cle, Holmes against Oakland, Washington D v NYG, Stephen Jackson (might be starting by that time) against SF, and Eric Johnson against StL (who gave up three TDs to Buffalo's TE this week)... Hmm, the possibilities... :)

Week 14:
I have Carr against Indy (who had 0TDs and 3 Ints, so the chances for improvement are definitely there ), Priest against Tenn, Dillon v Cinci, Denver D against Miami, Clayton v SD, and Julius Jones against NO....
Taking on the Rubi, who has Pittsburgh's offense (QB, #3WR, #2 RB (aka, goal line back)) v NYJ. Hopefully that'll be a cincher for me, tho' I'd rather cinch the playoffs by week 13. :)

Once we get into the playoffs, my weeks 15 and 16 are in great shape. Assuming I make the playoffs, I'm very much looking forward to the damage I might do then...

I have a difficult road ahead:

This week I play VV, same record as I have but featuring the point machine that is Peyton Manning. My only real hope is that either Manning has an off day (HA!) or someone on my squad steps up and has a 3TD performance. That's not impossible, just improbable. :)

Week 13 I play Ash's Killer Wasp Drones. Not an easy game by any means, but at least I'm not faced with a conisistant 30+ point scorer.

Week 14 I play Pyro. Again a solid team that could pose a problem.

I'm 8-3 right now with a terrible point total. I need to win 2 out of three to guarantee a trip to the playoffs. Anything less and I may lose out based on points. 2 of 3 against these teams is a tall order.

I thought that if I blew the last 3 games that I could possibly be out. So, it's not guaranteed!

Hey! I was trying for a Bill Clintonesque "I feel your pain" statement! :P

Even if you blow all 3 games you will probably still make it if your team can earn 70+ points each week.

My playoff dreams are shattered. Jamal Lewis out for at least 4 weeks. Once Priest comes back I won't have **** for RBs.

Not to step on your toes (yet again), but guess who picked up Chester Taylor (yet again) a few days ago?

Well color me happy 8) . Marvin Harrison just earned 30 points on 3 TDs.

Poor Wiggle :P . He is facing VV. Manning put up 6 TDS and Indy scored 18 on defense. Wiggle is 62 points in the hole.

I am so screwed. Between the 6TDs from Manning and all the monster score on Defense the Colts have single-handedly put me away. None of my guys have even played yet and I've already lost. That makes this weekend so much fun...

I dunno, I'm a pessimist, VV could easily get 39 points from Holt and Longwell combined if it's a high scoring affair tonight. What really has me worried is that I'm in the running for a $125 pot this week in the office football pool. It doesn't matter who wins the game tonight, I simply need both teams to score a combined 51 points or more and I'm a winner. Of course getting to 51 points using Holt and Longwell screws me in the fantasy league...

OH THE DRAMA!!!

I'm within striking distance of Kelethin Rangers with my QB and RBs to go tonight. I only wish the real Kerry Collins would decide when he's going to show up - it's annoying leaving 30+ points on the bench from someone who was/is only an emergency fill in.

The sad thing is, even if I win, I'm not going to move up in the standings.

Drax

I'm hoping and praying Walker does next to nothing tonight, and that it's Donald Driver show instead. My opponent in my money league has Walker playing, and since I should have the victory over Gaul tonight (which if I lose will make me sick, given my team's performance this weekend and Gaul's MIA status...) I'd rather have Driver have a great game (which will help me in this league and the other for other reasons, as well).

On a different note, I hope I make it to the playoffs. Two weeks ago, there was little doubt I would. Now I'm in the nether region of the playoff brackets, and I don't like it here. Too warm and moist... Er. Anyway...

If I make it to the playoffs, I think I'll have one of the most potent RB situations in the league, with Priest Holmes (assuming no complications from his injury), Correy Dillon, and Julius Jones. With Javon Walker and Michael Clayton as my WRs, and Eric Johnson and S Heiden to choose from for TE, I'm pretty happy with my situation.

Whew.

Best outcome possible for me. Earned a few points from Walker for this league, but not enough to force a loss in my other league. (Other league's victory was 130.xx - 124.xx. :))

Am excited about the close finish in our league, but the next two weeks will have me on (figurative) pins and needles, since I'm in the borderline region for the playoffs, and have a tough matchup against Erudite this week.

I feel much more confident about our upcoming matchup than I did this weekend, with Dillon facing the Browns and JJ facing the 'Hawks. Also Eric Johnson faces the Rams who gave up 3TDs to TE Mark Campbell a couple weeks ago. Yay!

Just for added touch, I'm hoping Shockey will fumble and the Washington recovery goes in for a TD. :)

G'luck this weekend, Erudite! :)

Although currently I'm winning by 10 points, I think Ash is going to get revenge for my win over his lady last week as he's still got Hasselbeck tonight and I find it hard to believe Matt will score less than 11 points against a weak Dallas defense.

Good luck Ash.

Rubi may get his first win against me. He has 2 players tonight and only needs 3 points. Wow. Drew Brees had a horrible week and Aaron Brooks shot the lights out. So it goes in FFL. Brees was due for a bad week, but I hate benching on those kinds of hunches.

The Good News: everyone with me at 7-5 is probably going to lose (excepting Drax) so I am holding steady.

Hassel has been a real hassle this year, so there is really no telling what he's going to do at any given time!

G'luck this weekend, Erudite! :)

Never, ever again will I draft Michael Vick.

Curtis Martin tried to pull this one out for me, but the lack of production at quarterback, coupled with Fred Taylor facing a tough Pittsburgh defense, and complicated by the loss of Plaxico Burress at wideout, spelled defeat for me yet again.

Good game, Drax. Good luck in the playoffs!

Thanks! Hoping I make it there! :)

Just got to check last week's games today, and wow! My picking Julius Jones in the draft was awesome foresight! (Let's just ignore me dropping him from my team after week 1 and picking him back up after his first game back, against Baltimore...)

Woot! Looks like despite leaving some good points on the bench this week I will finish out the regular season 10-4. I should nab spot #3 or #4 in the playoff berths.

My team has finally stated to put up points the past few weeks after spending nearly all year posting scores in the 60's and 70's. Hopefully that trend will continue into the playoffs, but with the consistant 100 point juggernauts we've got in this league I'm skeptical of my chances to go all the way. Still, considering all the rebuilding I've done over the season I'm pleased just to be where I'm at right now. Whew!

Yeah, my tendency to try and couple my QB and primary RB along with the occasional other offensive player really bit me in the ass the last two weeks. Relatively poor showing by Favre and Green doomed me, along with Roy Williams returning to reality and Stokely picking a bad time to have an "average" game yesterday. Ah well, perhaps next season I may actually try something novel, like pre-draft research. :P

Erudite
13th December 2004, 12:03 PM
I'll go out with a win, but I'm way too far down the rankings to make the playoffs. I'll finish 12th, leaving me to play the "What if..." game.

I gave serious consideration to taken McNabb in the second round instead of Vick. That would have been huge for me. Oh well...
