found this while digging around mystic boards, and never realized this was true - makes sense tho:
Bzzt. Wrong answer.
The CORRECT answer when crafting is to run NO buffs AT ALL!
Sounds wrong doesn't it? Lemme explain why it works.
Unlike your regular spells, crafting spells do not have a "set" amount of mana that they cost. Crafting spells cost a percentage of your total power pool to cast. This mechanic is what allows a L10 Scout to be a L50 Jeweler if he wants. Incidentally, it's this same mechanic that applies to damage done to you by the crafting station. It's a percentage of your total HP pool, not a fixed amount. So more HP = bad too.
So, by increasing your power pool, you are increasing the cost of the spells.
Now, the "neat" thing is that food and DRINK are fixed amounts. I think T3 is fixed at 36 per tick regen, at least it was before the last patch, I believe it may have been increased further in that patch, specifically player made. Anyway, even at 36 per tick, this is easy to explain.
If your power pool is say 360, a crafting spell might cost 36 mana to cast (10 percent of your power pool). With T3 food being used, you are getting 36 mana per tick back. So every tick, you can cast this spell and not drop in mana!
Now, if you were to cast spells and double your mana to 720, the crafting spell would then cost 72 mana to cast (still just 10 percent of your power pool), but that 36 per tick would only allow you to cast that spell once every 2 ticks.
Make sense?
