Title says it all.

Don't "subscribe." Join the usergroup. UserCP > Group memberships > request to join. Greebs forgot to exempt GG members from having to join, I think.

I joined the SR group, and I can see the forum, but I can't post to it either.

I am not a member of the GG at large - is that an issue?

Greebo
21st March 2005, 12:09 PM
Hmm. Permissions on the SR group must be wrong.

Wait one...

Greebo
21st March 2005, 12:09 PM
Were you able to see the SR forum BEFORE you joined the SR Group?

Greebo
21st March 2005, 12:10 PM
SR Usergroup perms updated to allow posting.

Were you able to see the SR forum BEFORE you joined the SR Group?

Directed at me? No, before joining I could not see the forum.

I am able to post now. Thanks for fixing it.

Both of you actually - thanks Erudite.

Shadowgate - same question.

Erudite
21st March 2005, 12:24 PM
More strangeness. I'm able to submit a post, but it doesn't show up in the forum. That is, I'm allowed to type a message and hit the submit button, and I get the "Thanks for posting" screen, but my message isn't there when I am returned to the forum.

shadowgate
21st March 2005, 12:24 PM
Yes, I could see SR threads before but still can not post to it at this point.

shadowgate
21st March 2005, 12:28 PM
I am now a member of SR group but still get this message when trying to post to a thread there:

Thank you for posting! You will now be taken to your post. If the administrator has selected to moderate all posts in this forum, you will be taken back to the forum and your post will be displayed presently. If you opted to post a poll, you will now be allowed to do so.

Click here if your browser does not automatically redirect you. (http://forums.legendsofwestwood.org/forumdisplay.php?f=23)

That message without anything actually posting!

Greebo
21st March 2005, 12:34 PM
Wierd.

Somethings up with "moderation mode"...looking into it.

Greebo
21st March 2005, 12:39 PM
I *THINK* i've got it sorted now.

Let me know please.

Erudite
21st March 2005, 12:43 PM
Heehee. Now I'm not allowed to post again.

Sorry to be such a headache, Greebo.

shadowgate
21st March 2005, 12:43 PM
Nope. I am still getting that redirect message. I do see that some of my older "test posts" have finally posted... Should I un-subcribe and un-member and try again?

Greebo
21st March 2005, 12:56 PM
No - its a permissions issue on this side. Your posts showed up because I validated them (a moderator function I should not HAVE to do)

Greebo
21st March 2005, 12:58 PM
Try again please.

Erudite
21st March 2005, 01:01 PM
It seems to be working for me now. Thanks again!

Greebo
21st March 2005, 01:02 PM
Check that one more time please, Erudite - I found a thread I had to moderate...and it may have mislead you into thinking its working.

Try creating a new thread, and also replying to an existing thread.

shadowgate
21st March 2005, 01:23 PM
DoH! Still a no go Greebo! :(

Erudite
21st March 2005, 01:25 PM
Hmm...you seem to be right. Both my reply to an existing thread and my new thread did not show up.

Greebo
21st March 2005, 01:29 PM
What the hell... ok time to fire up the test user.

lol!!!!!!!!

Greebo

Here's what happened...

In order to prevent "Registered Users" from reading the forum (allowing anyone to create a bogus account and snoop), I blocked all of its access to the SR forum, and the switch setting it to "All No" set the "Always Moderate This Groups Posts" to Yes. (smart behavior but counter-intuitive).

EVERYONE who can post here is in the "Registered Users" group.

So when you joined the GG or SR Groups, you gain access to the SR forum to post, but because you were in Reg Users, you got moderated.

That has been corrected. :)

shadowgate
21st March 2005, 01:40 PM
Ok, I am able to post again. What you do Greebo? And thanks! :)

shadowgate
21st March 2005, 01:41 PM
Thx Greebo! :)

Erudite

Yep, working fine. Thanks!

Read above:

Greebo

No - LoW-GG Usergroup members have access.

Sits has never added himself to the usergroup. Adding him now.

Greebo
21st March 2005, 03:28 PM
Oops - I can't really add him w/o going through the admin menu.

Sits: Go to User CP. Click on Group Memberships. Submit a request to Join the Legends of Westwood Gaming Group usergroup.

Let me know when you have and I'll auth it.

Sitsonsix

All done.

Just curious, am I no longer welcomed to converse and play with you guys regarding Stellar Realms now or what?

GravenStone
21st March 2005, 09:45 PM
Technically, since you sort of wandered in regarding SR (friend of atriel and Kiir iirc, yes?) then all you'd need to do is survive a grilling to be officially joined. I'm too bleary eyed to read through our other charters, but I think there's a 60-90 day grace period before such things have to resolve. Plus you could well be "grandfathered" in, having participated last round.

If you're asking about tonight, I suspect that someone with admin access to acknowledge your request is simply not handy so you might be languishing in the short term until one of the pops on.

Actually I have quite a few friends that are members here. I just figured I was playing Stellar Realms, and have actually contemplated joining LOW.

I'd say you're established enough, with such refs, you're welcome in SR forums in my book.

Uhm, does LoW have an SR chapter with charter?

GravenStone
21st March 2005, 11:57 PM
Sorry, I didn't mean to come across as brusque, that's what I get for posting two minutes after waking up....

I agree with Zyzzyx that you're more than welcome in the SRGG (yes Din we're working on one). And if you did choose to join the LoWGG, then you'd be a member of SR (and everything else) by default.

Right now, I think it's just a question of Greebo dropping by to okay your request to (re)join the SR forum.

Geeze, look what kinds of trouble my paranoia caused.... :*

GD_ is in. I think a SR LoW Guild is going way overboard. How about we just leave it up to me?

If I have a question about someone, I will put it to a vote before giving permission.

Greebo

Works for me! :)

Yeah, he has been silent lately. I will message him in game.
