The new PlayStation Portable (PSP) is now available in the United States!

It looks pretty but I can't see myself ever using it. Too many other toys already.

Heck I don't even have a PS2 yet.
OR a DVD player. OR a VCR (anymore).

I just bang rocks together for entertainment, mostly. :lowlol:

One of the long list of things I don't need in a portable version.

Saw the ad, looks cool, but I'm in the too many toys already camp. I put maybe anyway, never know.

Before Tues, my opinion was to save my money for the PS3.

Now, tho', I need to buy a new car, in addition to paying off the computer I had just bought because 'we didn't have any expenses in the near future' ...

Are you kidding?

I don't know much about them, but I doubt I've have an opportunity to use it. Unless I could smuggle it to work... hmm.

Nah, I'd get fired before I finished one lap of GT4.

No dice. Setting aside the enormous cost ($250 for the unit, $50 a game) it's a fact that RPG and strategy games for handhelds basically suck, and since those are by far my two favorite genres there is no real reason for me to ever go portable.

I like an action game (Half-Life, Halo) once in awhile, and even sports games will occasionally find their way into my collection, but I can get way better (and bigger) bang off them from either my PC or my PS2, so the PSP has no appeal to me.

I haven't owned a portable gaming device since I was like 10 and had a Gameboy. I just never have a chance to use em or a need. But if I do find one, this'll be the one I get. It's badass.

Not I. My gaming budget is being diverted to pay for braces. :(

First the cost is just too high for a portable gaming system. It will play movies, but only if you buy them in a new proprietary format (If it played regular DVD's it would have more of my attention).

I have a game boy and never get time to play it. As a matter of fact the last game someone convinced me I had to get cause it was on sale at such a great price is still in the shrink wrap. I think it was summer or fall when that game came out.

I like PC games better, and am firmly in the too many toys camp also!

Does "Are you kidding?" Mean yes or no?

I took it as a no. :)

I took it as No also.

I'm thiking about it. So far I don't like the game selection I've seen. About teh only thing I would play on it is the Darkstalkers game, and I'm not enough of a fan boy to buy a new console system for just one game.

...until the reason Ig ot a Gamecube so I could play as Link in soul Caliber.... what?

We've had more varieties of Gameboys in this house than I can count. We've had 2 originals, 4 Gameboy colors and 2 GBAs. I, myself, like having a Gameboy available for travel sometimes becasue, for whatever reason, it doesn't give me problems like reading sometimes does. Now, I have a laptop now, which is completely different, but I can't always take it with me.

So, if I had the money, I'd buy one tomorrow (probably). But ever since I know how much the system would cost, I haven't even looked at the games available, so I'm not even sure I'd buy on if I had the money. I've never even paid close to $200 for a regular console system, even as a Sony, I have trouble paying that for a handheld.

I haven't had a handheld gaming 'system' since the early '80s and the LCD button pushers. (think 'Parachute Panic' in the arcade here) Definitely not interested in one now. Especially at that price; I could get all kinds of stuff for the bike with that money.
