Colorado Ren Fest this July 9-10, 2005.
Please cast a vote for your preferences. :lowcool:
If we rent a house, the cost will be less, but there would be only 7-8 beds max, the rest would be floor space.

First off, that's July 9 - 10, right?
Secondly, we're not even sure if we can make it yet, but we'd be happy with floor space, somewhere. Not sure who all we'll have with us, likely only the Peanut and us two (I think my ex has the kids that weekend).

I didn't vote, since if Becky and I come out to Colorado, we'll likely stay Wed through Sun, so we'd have to find our own accommodations for the first two nights anyway...

Chuck and I may also be able to squeeze in a few extra days in Denver as well, so don't let that inhibit your vote. We have yet to decide if those days will be spent prior to or post the Weekend activities.

Not voteing since I have my spot already, and as stated, I do have floor space.

I'd likely be flying out on Wednesday (July 6) and doing some sightseeing beforehand. Whatever decision is made by those coming will determine how I set up my lodging reservations.
Now to get familiar with the new regulations regarding baggage on planes (I haven't flown since 9/11 - looks like I'll have to get some of those new FAA-approved locks as a minimum).
(Update - I made my flight reservations today. Arriving in Denver on Wednesday at 4:03pm MDT. Holding off on lodging arrangements for now.)

Locks? I haven't used locks ever. If your bag is locked, how can they do a random search later on?

TSA (not FAA) approved locks (the FAA has nothing to do with baggage locks, thats TSA) have a special key hole which allows TSA officials to unlock the bag w/o cutting it.
The good TSA approved locks even have an LED which blinks if the lock has been opened by the TSA.

I never locked my bag before 9/11. Why would I lock it after?
Greebo

Well it depends on what you check with your luggage.
If you check anything valuable, locking your bag is a good idea, as 4.83 bags per 1000 customers were lost, stolen, or damaged.

We need to finalize this soon.

I mean, I know this is sticky and all, but what ever happened with this?

I'm wondering that myself... this is only four weeks away! I'd like to see things finalized in the next week...

Chuck and I have been using our Denver trip a a day bouncer. Our anticipated time in Denver has bounced between 7 days, 4 days, 2 days, 3 days and possibly back to 4 days. Now that his TechEd week is over and we have returned to Baltimore, we hope to solidify our plans very shortly.
I am hoping that housing will still be available, but if not, we may just need to get hotel rooms at the same hotel. :lowcool:

This humble house is available for Thursday, July 7, through Sunday, July 10.http://pweb.netcom.com/~corporatehousing/ it offeres a picture tour!
It has a $200. damage deposit, a $50. laundry fee, and a $225. per night cost.
The damage deposit will be returned after they revisit the house.
We are expected to leave the house in the level of cleanliness we find it... (vacuumed, clean counter and the toilets cleaned).
It is non-smoking and does not allow pets. I told her it would be occupied by 6-8 adults to settle any of her fears. But it can also sleep 2 kids.
I told her I would be calling her on Wednesday to finalize.
If you are interested in sharing this hut please let us know what days you expect to be staying with us. Pricing per night will be according to the number of people staying at the house.
$225 + $17 (one third of laundry fee) / # of people. I think that would work!
I would greatly appreciate some of the money upfront (Paypal - Chuck) so we don't have to front so much money.
Thank you

We do need to know REAL SOON who FOR SURE will be staying at the house and when, because if its just Carol and I, we'll just get a hotel. :)
If we can get 3 or 4 couples we can get some really cheap housing. :)

I would be interested in knowing too, as I would like to take the days off that people are arriveing to help guide them in from DIA or where ever.

Awhile ago I thought that I could make this work, but I completely tapped out my funds doing ALC last week. Gonna take me a couple months to get back on paying rent on time, so I'm going to have to bow out of making this event.

Sadly, Becky and I are in a similar situation. We're strapped for cash, and we have no idea how it happened. A month ago, we were planning on coming out to Colorado, really excited to have another vacation and get to meet all you fine folks (and Greebo... ;) :lowlol:), and now we're fighting to stay afloat.
In fact, we have a couple bills due on Thurs that we're going to have to pay with credit cards, which is the worst possible thing to do in this situation, but we have no choice. :|
So, suffice it to say, we will have to wait on meeting LoW (except for Gaulron, Zoldan, and Straxus, all of whom I met this past winter) for another time.
Hope you all have a fun time!

Sheesh, any more of this and there will be no gathering this year.;(

Because of the newest addition to our family (Jabober, MkIII), we're seriously looking at coming. We have a few other things to work out, but we are working diligently to do so. We'll have an answer within a day, hopefully.
Really, before Jabober, we had resigned ourselves to not coming, but 'Bober and our current situation could help us really do this! Our only real hold ups are the Sisters and the kids, so we're working on that right now (and Katy already has the Triptik up).
We're all fine on the floor, but the question is where? Is the housing dependent on the number of people coming?
We'll have something hopefully more solid soon.

Yes, probably. We've had a lot of travelling to do so far this year and we've got 1 more trip minimum not including Denver.
Our funds are getting stretched thin because of this and having enough people share the house to lower the per-day cost is going to be important in deciding whether *we* make it or not.
We need answers in the do-or-die thread by the end of this week or we're going to have to bail.

I'm looking at the money now and it's tough.
If the only way it'll happen is if we help pay for the house, I really don't think we can. It's $400 round trip just to drive there and back (not counting food). There's no way I'm sleeping at a rest stop in the car with the baby along. And we can't do 21 hours straight driving without a stop.
Add admission to the faire, dinner Friday night (for at least two, possibly 4), the cost of kenneling the Sisters or at least paying someone to come by every day, plus food the rest of the time we're there, I'm afraid there's no way we can afford 75+ a night in lodging, too. Maybe, MAYBE, if we were camping in Barrack's back yard, but that's probably the only way.
I'm sorry. :(

I'm definitely coming... I'm willing to chip in on the house as needed. I'll finalize whatever lodging arrangements on Monday (meaning payment via Paypal if we do go the house route).
