Forum backup idea

Shadowgate had a good idea that I have gone ahead and implemented. I started a Yahoo! Group for LoW called.....Legends of Westwood. If you would like to be invited to the group, PM me your yahoo ID (if you have one) or an email address.

Note:

1) This is a backup option only. These forums will remain our primary method of ex-game communication.

2) Anyone who posts here is welcome to join. This is NOT limited to LoW GG members.

3) I will be the admin, obviously. If you want to be a mod, let me know in your PM.

4) Yahoo! Groups allow one to post via email. I have it set up so that everyone in the group will see every message. This is to reinforce that this is purely a backup system to keep in touch about website downtime.

5) If you were part of the WWT Fantasy Football League, I have your Yahoo! ID already and will invite you so check you Yahoo email.

OK it is set up. Once you are a member, you can post messages to the group by sending an email to legendsofwestood@yahoogroups.com.

If you don't want to PM me for some reason, you can subscribe by emailing legendsofwestwood-subscribe@yahoogroups.com but if I will need to know who you are before confirming subscription.

So, it's not a forum then. More like a mass email thingy. That was the nontechnical term.

Its kinda both. You can use it as a forum, or as an email list server. Its all based on how you choose to use it.

There is a crude forum but it is just basically a list of all messages. They can be threaded if you so choose to display them that way.

This, IMO, is not terribly user friendly. I don't see a forum at all, just a place to send an email to the group. I sent one and have no idea where it went.
