How exactly does salary cap fantasy football work?

noptov52
3rd September 2005, 06:31 PM
Your given a cap of $100 and have to fill out a standard fantasy football squad (QB, 3 WR, 2 RB, TE, K, Defense). Each player is assigned a dollar amount based on expectations and performance (unsure exactly how the number is determined). You try to fill out the highest scoring roster possible within the salary cap.

The real key is blending solid (but pricey) performers with underrated players who'll outplay their cost.

Every week players costs are adjusted.

Interesting. Well, I'm game. I'll mosy over later and sign up. I still need to redeem myself from that godawful autodraft. :frown:

Is this also a yahoo league? I'm having some trouble signing up using the ID 9588 and PW capped (all lower case?).

Yeah its a Yahoo league, should be the right info as I cut and paste it from the league creation.

I've tried signing up three times, and all three times I receive:

There was a problem:

• The password is incorrect. (Error #109)
• The league is not in pre-draft mode. (Error #209)

Thuriniel

Those are the same errors I've gotten.

Is it a free or premium league?

noptov52
3rd September 2005, 11:13 PM
Well I didn't pay for it, so I assume its free. The commish tools don't have anything about draft mode or whatnot.

The new password is westwood (all lower caps).

Same two errors. :(

Well poop. Anyone else want to try creating a group?

At any rate it still looks like a fun take on fantasy football.

I broke the code! :lowlol:

Here's what you need to do to join the league.

First you must create your own TEAM. Go to the Fantasy Sports Homepage (http://fantasysports.yahoo.com/), and click Salary Cap Football. You'll be asked to create a team, so do so. Once you have a team created, join Nop's group using the ID (9588) and password (westwood), and you're in.

Also I created a league for Survival Football, which is kinda cool. Played it last season on ESPN.com, and it was fun, even tho' I messed up by week 3-4...

Here's what you need:
Group ID # 15819
Group Name Survival of the Tavernest
Password westwood

Signed up for both. Got my salary cap casualties selected...still thinking on the suicide squad.

I would love to join, but I have too many leagues this year with 3 normal and 2 survival.

I'm in. "Toucans of Whupass" are hard hitting & budget friendly, a combination much sought after by real NFL owners who will undoubtedly be knocking on my door when I sweep this league.

*edit* - Changed my team name today while also pretty much retooling the whole roster based on better matchup intel.

OK, there are some amazing morons in the Yahoo Salary Cap game (nobody in our league, I was looking at the overall scores of everyone participating). Apparently a whole lot of people don't understand the rules of the game, so they loaded up on Patriots and Raiders for last night's game thinking they could keep the ones that scored well and sell the ones that didn't to replace them with players playing Sunday.

WRONG!

The game locks down your players 5 minutes before the game they participate in begins, and doesn't unlock them again until after the last game has been played Monday night (so really Tuesday morning). So now there are hundreds of people with scores in the 70's and 80's that bought all the top Patriots and Raiders players who will be at the bottom of the standings come Monday. What kills me is that a lot of these guys had $10-$20 leftover on their caps. What a waste.

Ah well, that's what you get for thinking you can beat the system. My team is solidly in place, with a whopping $0.30 left on my cap. I'm a little dissapointed because I had Vinieteri and he only scored 6 points last night, that's over $2 a point I paid. Doh.

That IS pretty damn funny, tho'. :lowlol: The person in first place overall has zero slots left. Collins - Dillon - LJordan - Curry - Branch - Moss - Courtney Anderson (??! In retrospect, this was a fantastic pick!) - Sebass - Oak (Horrible pick of the two), but for only 84 pts? Yikes...

Drax

Oh, on the bright side... I'm in 71472nd place! Woohoo!

And for the record, I have $4.41 left, for flex money throughout the season.

One more thing - Raveneye, I created a Survival league on Yahoo as well. See one of my previous posts, if you're interested. (Predict a winner each week, if that team wins, you "move on." Once you pick a team, you cannot pick them for the rest of the season. Pretty fun concept.)

Thanks for the invite Drax, but I'm in too darn many leagues and pools to keep track of already.

Yeah, me too... Two FFLs, 1 Survival, 1 Pick'em league, and 1 Salary Cap league, in Yahoo! alone. Add in the three ESPN games, and my production at work just went down pretty significantly on Fridays... :lowlol:

just kidding, of course... *cough*

I thought about it, but I've got way too much on my plate this semester to consider any more leagues. Our regular FFL is going to be more than enough to keep track of.

Well, I just say this bit more, then drop it... The beauty of the Survival League is that you pick that one sure-thing team, the team that will definitely win that week, and that's it. Once you look over the schedule, you pick the team who will win their game, and that's it. Easy as pie.

Now back to your regularly scheduled ... Salary Cap League thread. :D

Drax

Yeah, that was quick... :lowlol:

Resetting the league, so we can continue. We can tally who wins the most, and he will be the "real" winner.

So if anyone else wants to sign up, please do!

Damn you people, your incessant blabbering about it has led me to cave in and join the Survival League!

OMG I am so bad at Salary Cap. Totally different game than regular FFL.

I got rocked after investing ~18 bucks in Brett Favre and losing two points.

Somebody please explain to me how, in Salary Cap Football, I could be in 453rd place in the Fans of Missouri group but 482nd in the Fans of St Louis group, both of which I was automatically added to... :|

Also I totally regret my last-minute decision to replace Cadillac Williams with Stephen Jackson. D'oh! :eek!:

Thuriniel
12th September 2005, 05:13 PM
Don't feel bad...I too thought Jackson would be good for at least 2 scores against SF...who unfortunately chose THIS game out of the last 20 to actually LOOK like a pro team. =o/

Salary cap is all about the TDs. I had 3 players without any.

Anyone else getting their "weekly" reminders from salary cap football every day?
