Just had the following two articles sent to me from an ESPN Fantasy site subscriber, and thought you may enjoy these:
FFL: Lineup Rankings
We rate players based on possible fantasy production each week, taking into account past production as well as matchups. These are not overall player rankings, but rather a list of who you should start for the upcoming week. Top superstars will rarely get moved out of the prime spots, as they should not be benched unless injured. Players with an unclear injury status for the upcoming week will not be included. All four major offensive positions and defense/special teams units are ranked.
Quarterbacks

FFL: Week 4 Statbook
Bye Week: Chicago, Cleveland, Miami, Pittsburgh
Houston at Cincinnati: RB Domanick Davis (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6437) rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown in his only career game against the Bengals, and his owners shouldn't worry about his 74.5 scrimmage yards per game average this season. Cincinnati's rush defense has allowed a 4.6 yards per carry average, sixth-worst in the NFL, and even if the Bengals mount an early lead, Davis should be a factor in the receiving game. ... QB Carson Palmer (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6337) has averaged 255.1 passing yards while throwing for 19 touchdowns compared to eight interceptions in his last seven starts. ... RB Rudi Johnson (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5548) leads the NFL with 907 rushing yards in his last nine games, and he has eight touchdowns during that span. He'll be facing the league's second-worst rush defense in the Texans (143.5). ... The Bengals' defense is an attractive play this week going up against QB David Carr (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5887), who has thrown for eight touchdowns compared to 12 interceptions in his last 10 games. Cincinnati has 12 interceptions and has allowed just one passing touchdown in three games.
Indianapolis at Tennessee: RB Edgerrin James (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=4652) always brings his best against the Titans; he has averaged 103.2 rushing yards and scored seven touchdowns in five career games against Tennessee. The Titans' rush defense ranks a respectable 17th (107.0), but that number is misleading based on Jamal Lewis (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5034)' poor showing against them in Week 2. ... The Colts' defense has developed into a quality starting fantasy unit. Indianapolis has limited its first three opponents to fewer than 10 points, becoming only the sixth team to do that since World War II; only the champion 1962 Green Bay Packers (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=gnb) did it in their first four contests. ... RB Chris Brown (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6429) rushed for 100-plus yards in both games against the Colts in 2004, amassing 256 yards and one touchdown overall. With Travis Henry (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5505) sidelined, Brown will get a hefty workload, making him an appealing No. 2.
Seattle at Washington: RB Shaun Alexander (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5048) will be facing the league's No. 2-ranked rush defense in the Redskins (65.5). In 2004, he averaged 71.2 rushing yards in five games against top-10 run defenses, though he did score four touchdowns in those contests. Considering Alexander's touchdown potential -- he has 61 scores in his last 50 games, counting the postseason -- don't worry about a possible low yardage total. ... WR Santana Moss (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5463) has 255 receiving yards and two touchdowns in his first two games as a Redskin, and he has six scores in his last seven contests, counting the postseason. He should be able to break loose for some lengthy receptions against Seattle.
Detroit at Tampa Bay: RB Kevin Jones (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6789) is averaging just 54.5 yards per game and 3.3 yards per carry in two games, and he'll be facing the Buccaneers' rush defense, which has allowed an NFL-low 2.7 yards per carry. This could be his worst matchup of the entire season, meaning his slump should extend for another week. ... RB Carnell Williams (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7181) is the first player in NFL history to rush for 100-plus yards in his first three games, and he also holds the record for most rushing yards (434) by a rookie through his first three contests. He'll face a Lions rush defense that ranks 22nd (116.5), and Tampa Bay will give him the ball enough for him to have a real chance at a fourth straight 100-yard effort. ... The Bucs' defense ranks second in the NFL with six interceptions, and they'll be facing Joey Harrington (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5889), who threw five picks in Week 2. Expect a nice game for Tampa Bay in terms of turnovers, making the unit a strong fantasy play.
Denver at Jacksonville: QB Jake Plummer (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=3895) has been rather ordinary on the road since joining the Broncos, averaging 208.5 passing yards while throwing for 17 touchdowns and 17 interceptions in 14 road games. Jacksonville's defense, meanwhile, is the AFC's best unit (252.7), and has at least one interception in seven straight games, matching Dallas and Minnesota for the longest active streak. ... QB Byron Leftwich (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6343), meanwhile, has been far more comfortable at home throughout his career. He has averaged 206.9 passing yards while throwing for 18 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 15 games. Don't read too much into Denver's 13th-ranked secondary (206.7); Gus Frerotte (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=2869) managed 275 yards and two scores against the Broncos in their only road game.
San Diego at New England: RB LaDainian Tomlinson (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5452) has rushed for at least one touchdown in 15 consecutive games, an NFL record, and he leads the league in total scrimmage yards since 2001, with 125.2 per game. Though the Patriots boast the league's sixth-ranked rush defense (91.7), Tomlinson is playing too well of late to sit. He has averaged 131.5 scrimmage yards and has 16 touchdowns in his last 10 games, counting the postseason. ... QB Tom Brady (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5228) is always at top form at Gillette Stadium; he has won 21 consecutive games there and has thrown 38 touchdowns compared to 11 interceptions in 25 regular-season contests there. San Diego's secondary ranks 28th (254.3), so expect Brady to rack up another solid effort in the comforts of home.
Buffalo at New Orleans: RB Willis McGahee (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6359) has 14 rushing touchdowns, third-most in the NFL, in his last 13 games. He also has eight 100-yard efforts and has averaged 90.8 rushing yards during that span. New Orleans' rush defense ranks 26th (126.7), so expect another big day for McGahee. ... RB Deuce McAllister (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5470) has averaged 97.4 scrimmage yards and has 12 touchdowns in his last 14 games, and he'll be going up against the league's bottom-ranked rush defense (174.0). That number is a bit misleading; Buffalo has faced some deep, athletic running games the past two weeks, but McAllister is nevertheless a fine starting option. ... QB Aaron Brooks (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=4781) has averaged 244.7 passing yards while throwing for 12 touchdowns and 16 interceptions in his last 10 games. Buffalo sports the game's top-ranked secondary (106.3), so expect the erratic Brooks to struggle through another mediocre fantasy outing.
St. Louis at N.Y. Giants: WR Torry Holt (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=4654) has averaged 6.4 receptions for 94.7 receiving yards and has 26 touchdowns in his last 38 games, counting the postseason. The Giants' secondary ranks 30th (284.7), meaning another potentially big day for Holt. ... WR Kevin Curtis (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6410) has 31 receptions for 482 yards and two touchdowns in his last six games, including the postseason. Even if Isaac Bruce (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=2914) (turf toe) does play, Curtis is going to be a key part of the St. Louis pass attack, so consider him as a No. 3 or 4 option. ... Is QB Eli Manning (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6760) steadily improving? Consider that in his last six games, he has averaged 202.7 passing yards while throwing for 10 touchdowns and five interceptions. He hasn't thrown an interception in his last 75 pass attempts, and facing the Rams' 27th-ranked secondary (242.7) represents a solid matchup for him.
N.Y. Jets at Baltimore: RB Curtis Martin (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=3164) has fallen short of 100 rushing yards in each of his last five games, counting the playoffs, and hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 15 last season. Though he'll get a hefty workload in QB Brooks Bollinger (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6536)'s first NFL start, Martin, who is averaging 2.8 yards per carry this season, is a poor fantasy option facing the Ravens, who have allowed an average of 3.3 yards per carry. ... RB Jamal Lewis might seem like a quality start against the 29th-ranked Jets rush defense (134.3), but two factors to remember: He has managed just 123 rushing yards and no touchdowns in two career games against the Jets, and if the Ravens build up an early lead, they could turn more to Chester Taylor (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6142) to give Lewis more time to heal.
Minnesota at Atlanta: In four career games as the Vikings' featured back -- i.e., 10 carries or more -- RB Mewelde Moore (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6878) has rushed 78 times for 440 yards (5.6 average). He should be the team's starter against the Falcons -- whose rush defense ranks 27th (128.7) -- and is worth considering as a No. 3 or "flex" option. ... RB Warrick Dunn (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=3893) has averaged 113.0 scrimmage yards and has five touchdowns in his last nine games, including the postseason. Atlanta's three-man running game (Dunn, T.J. Duckett (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5904) and Michael Vick (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5448)) should give the 30th-ranked Minnesota rush defense (142.3) fits. ... RB Duckett has eight touchdowns in his last seven games, counting the playoffs. Don't forget about him in leagues that don't place as much of a premium on yardage totals.
Philadelphia at Kansas City: RB Brian Westbrook (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5977) has notched 100-plus scrimmage yards in 12 straight games, including the postseason, and has averaged 131.8 scrimmage yards while notching 14 total touchdowns during that span. The Chiefs' defense has allowed the fifth-most yards per game in the league this season (358.3). ... QB Trent Green (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=2547) has averaged 257.8 passing yards and thrown for two touchdowns and five interceptions in his last four games, and now he'll face the Eagles' eighth-ranked secondary (182.3). Expect his struggles to last for one more week. ... RB Larry Johnson (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6363) has rushed just 17 times for 54 yards (3.2 average) in his last two games, and he doesn't get enough carries to warrant a fantasy start when he faces a top run defense. Philadelphia's unit ranks ninth in the league (93.0), so avoid him this week.
Dallas at Oakland: QB Drew Bledsoe (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=2359) has averaged 283.3 passing yards and completed six touchdown passes in his first three games with the Cowboys, and he'll face another nice matchup against the Raiders' 31st-ranked secondary (300.0). He's a useful bye-week option. ... RB Julius Jones (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6802) has carried the ball 20-plus times in each of his 10 career starts, and has averaged 4.0 yards per carry. He should manage nice numbers against an Oakland rush defense that has allowed the second-most touchdowns (5) in the league. ... WR Terry Glenn (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=3515) has a realistic chance at notching three consecutive 100-yard receiving games for the first time in his career. He's a worthy No. 3 option based on his strong rapport with Bledsoe. ... WR Randy Moss (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=4262) doesn't fear the Cowboys' secondary, and neither should his fantasy owners. He has averaged 106.3 receiving yards and totaled nine touchdowns in four career games against the Cowboys.
San Francisco at Arizona: RB Kevan Barlow (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5527) is rarely a strong fantasy option, but this is one time where he's worth "flex" consideration. He has 415 scrimmage yards and three touchdowns in five career games against the Cardinals, who rank 28th in rushing yards per game allowed (130.7) and last in rushing touchdowns allowed (7). ... Though the switch to QB Josh McCown (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5967) might hurt the Cardinals receivers' numbers, Larry Fitzgerald (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6762) and Anquan Boldin (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6390) are still worthy starters facing the bottom-ranked 49ers secondary (369.0). Fitzgerald has 31 receptions for 409 yards and five touchdowns in his last six games, while Boldin has topped the 100-yard receiving plateau in each of his last two meetings with San Francisco. Green Bay at Carolina: Though RB Ahman Green (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=4261) has slumped of late, averaging just 3.8 yards per carry and racking up one touchdown in his last 10 games (including the postseason), he generally gets fired up for Monday Night games. He has averaged 129.8 scrimmage yards and totaled 14 touchdowns in 11 career appearances on Monday Night Football, and in his last game against the Panthers, Green rushed for 119 yards and scored three touchdowns. ... WR Steve Smith (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5521) has managed seven 100-yard receiving efforts in his last 20 games, and has 122 receptions for 1,785 yards and 13 touchdowns during that span. He has stepped comfortably into Muhsin Muhammad (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=3511)'s old role as Jake Delhomme (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=4555)'s preferred target this season, and is a top fantasy starter going up against the Packers' secondary, which has allowed the second-most touchdowns (7).
Hope you enjoy this.
Good luck to all this weekend!
