View Full Version : Some gameplay questions...

I've looked at all the help topics Charinida posted here, and they're largely the same as the ones posted at the Vault Network's GW site (the best I've found so far), but I still have some newbie questions...
1) Storage: Why can't I equip more than one belt pouch? It shows I have 4 slots for inventory items (bags, pouches, etc.) but only lets me equip my starter backpack and a single belt pouch. What gives? How do I get more storage space? Is there a bank anywhere to hold the massive amount of crafting supplies I'm building up?
2) Skills: On both my Warrior and Necro skill sets whenever I ask people who to go to for more skills it sends me back to the same trainers I talked to before. Does this mean I've unlocked all the pre-searing skills I can get for those professions?
3) Crafting: Where do you go to have weapons and armor crafted? Pre-searing, all I can seem to find is the weapon customizer in Ascalon, who customized my weapon for 10gp so that it does 20% more damage. I cannot seem to find an armor crafter or customizer anywhere, nor can I find a way to make a better sword that the looted one I had customized. Will I find this stuff easily post-searing?
4) Level: I've just now reached level 7. I have a couple of quests remaining pre-searing (that I know of) and seem to have visited most of the areas mentioned by the NPCs in the various quests. Is it time to move on? What level is right for post-searing?

I couldn't find a bank, pre-searing. There is one in Ascalon City post-searing. I also was frustrated by not being able to equip a second belt pouch, and never found any other containers. Can't help with that.

Yep, only so many skills pre-searing. If you've done the three quests to unlock skills for your class(es), you've got them all. The rest are post-searing, either on merchants around the world or captured from boss mobs via artifacts.

There is a crafter in Ascalon City post-searing. I don't remember what he can make, but recipes were listed when I clicked on him.

I made level 8, but I actually had to grind the last half of level 7 or so to do it (quests were done, at least the ones I could find). I've seen as low as level 5 post-searing, and as high as level 13 pre-searing. Honestly, if you've done everything there is to do (including your collector armor upgrades) pre-searing, there really isn't a reason to hold off to level up.

Thanks!
1) Good, I'm glad it's not just me. Sounds like I can off-load all my crafting supplies post-searing into the bank.
2) I kninda figured as much, but wanted to be sure I had all my skills before advancing as I'd hate to have to pay for skills I could have had free pre-searing.
3) Cool, I think I'll just hang on till then.
4) I'll probably reach 8th just by finishing the quests I have remaining. I have already visited most of the collectors, I only have the boots left to get from the collector's armor set, and I'll go after those tonight since I know where that collector is and what it is they want. I guess I'll load up on crafting supplies before doing the searing in hopes I can get an upgrade right away post-searing, but only until I reach 8th level, then it's a go no matter what.
Once I'm on the other side we'll have to put our skills together and do the PvE stuff. With Warrior, Necro, Elementalist and Monk we should have the bases just about covered.

There are different Types of Bags.. Main Bag, Belt Bag, Bag and Bag (the icons are different on your avatar). Bags can only be gotten Post-Searing, Belt Bags are available Pre-Searing.
The Crafter Pre-Searing is only for weapons, but don't bother generally you get better weapons from quests (quests usually net you things better then crafters can make).
Don't bother saving all crafting supplies.. keep only what you will use.. for example Necros use Bone but warriors don't for crafting armor. You can usually figure it out when you reach the first settlement post-searing and look at the armor crafters... just be aware there are different types of armor for each class.

Sounds fun. Maybe we'll be able to drag another few folks along just for kicks and giggles. :lowrazz:

I'm now in post-searing Ascalon. Look for Raveneye Darkstar running around. Which America "shard" are you in currently? I think I'm in 2 but I can't remember...

Five, I think. I've never bothered to check on whether it gives me a different one each time I log in. If I'm in five, I'll just hop over to two.

I played around with the NPC henchmen for a bit last night. Man, they're dumb. :lowrazz:
I likely won't be on tonight, as LOST is new (finally!).

I had one with me for a bit last night as well, the healer chick. She did OK, but she kept trying to tank mobs, um hello, that's my job. I ditched her after the pre-scripted mission that required her and another I finished at the same time. I "solo'd" after that, completing the gargoyle quest and the delivery to the orphans. Still haven't dinged 8th yet though.
I won't be on tonight either 'cause of LOST, but should be back tomorrow night. I need to cash in some of my iron ingots for better armor. What does your armor need to be crafted? I probably have a stack of it...

Of the stuff that can be crafted in Ascalon City, bolts of cloth and scales. I have enough of both. It's cash I'm short on, having crafted both the pyromancers robe and leggings (significant armor upgrades - from 7 to 30 on each piece, plus another 15 against fire). I also bought another bag for 100gp. I'm short on cash to make the gloves, boots, and cap.

Heh, I'm low on cash myself. I crafted the Chest and Helm from my set last night. I did Ascalon Armor version, iron ingots only, anot the higher version, as I didn't have the rare component or the cash for that. Both pieces are 35 armor with an additional 10 armor when in combat and a health boost.
I really need to just go cash farming. I also still haven't quite figured out what all the shouts about "Running to XXX" are all about. I assume they are people making the journey to another location on foot, and that higher level characters will escort you through to those places for a fee so that they then appear on your travel map for you to port to at will?

You are correct. You'll probably mostly see Lions Arch, which contains the next big set of skills to get.

Healers generate alog of agro from mobs (even without doing anything). In fact most mobs will make a beeline for the healer first, the henchmens AI improves the higher the hencmen get (each major area has different level hencmen to group with).
