Hey,
I'm kind of in a bit of an EQ2 lull and want something to play, but don't feel like shelling out $15 a month more for WoW, so I'm gonna pick this up after work. Is there a server I should create my characters on or something?

No servers in GW, instead when you enter you find yourself in Districts. You can change the district you're in whenever you're in a town or outpost via a dropdown menu. Wander through some of the threads here and you can get an idea of some of the features of the game.

Cool, thanks! I was in the open beta and liked it a lot, but at the time I really couldn't afford to buy it.

Whohoo!
Caran is gonna come play wiff me! (does the Mesmer dance because the Ranger and Elem chick dance looks like... err ...) If you want I'll make a baby to come play with ya's. Or you can just yak my ear off. But don't be surprised if I yell comething goofy at you. Chatting IMO is a bit more difficult that in EQ. I DO NOT like how when you are chatting you cannot control your character.
That pisses me off to the max. I'm so used to (no not follow I hardly ever used that in EQ) running directing my crit and talking all at once. I really should write a long flithy mean letter to GW about being not trying to dumb me down to some unkewl keyboard teh retard gay player.
Bet that gets faster attention then a well thought out one on how to combine more user friendly chating and movement. (i.e. it's actually harder for those who are just used to three four buttons on either side of a controler)

For what it's worth, I get the impression that GW is really meant to be played, especially in arenas with larger teams, using something like TeamSpeak. Someday I'll look into costs for that. :~

The Teamspeak client is free. I hosted a server for a while but no one used it so I let it lapse. It only cost me $10 a month. I would by the server software and host it on a spare machine but that is beyond my technical understanding.
Edit: Even cheaper now: http://www.darkstarllc.com/services/teamspeak/

Yeah. Currently Sweeman and I mooch off of a ventrilo server that a clan we were in pays for. While we played Guildwars it was rather handy to people to talk rather than type.

So... What's the characters name so we all know you are online?
Have you killed the prince yet? I'm having to wait for Erudite. The bastage better die tonight. I'm telling you NO MORE ACTING FOR THE PRINCE! Seesh the guy just needs to give up and give in. Have you done any of the primary story line quests yet?

SPOILER ---> He dies in the second Shiverpeaks mission - so unless we do them both tonight, you'll have to wait just a bit longer.
I've got some personal things to take care of tonight, but I should make it on later this evening. I *think* 9:30 or 10:00pm EST, for at least long enough to run one mission.
And yikes, Bergen Hot Springs is quite a walk for somebody just into the Shiverpeaks.
