Talia is fast approaching the point where she needs to decide which mission to go for, which I don't think affects the guild, but I figured I would bring it up anyways since it occurred to me, which Faction do we want to go for Kurzik or Luxon faction? Just one of those things that hit me since I am getting semi close to those mission in Factions now.

I don't have Factions yet, so I'm currently silent on the issue. ;)

Ummm... info? Hehe what's the difference?

Can we be the good guys? All the really great ppls w/great guilds are always evil. They are the coolest and great ppls which is why they are so evil. They are good of course players, with great ppls as friends. Just evil. Now look at us.

We are the really bad guild. Everyone always says Good guys are Stupid. So what if some of us can't or don't go it our own and Buy our own guild hall RW for 50K in game. There are leaders, we are followers and... it's quieter back here...

Honestly it doesn't look like there are a ton of major differences, I notice a lot of people when yelling for people to join their guild are pro-Kurzick, let me pull up wiki to see what the major difference is, I don't think it is much...

Luxon (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Luxon) for wiki:

The Luxons were a seafaring people on the continent of Cantha (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Cantha) who lived by the Jade Sea (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Jade_Sea).
The Luxon capital is the city of Cavalon (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Cavalon), located in the middle of the Jade Sea bay.

The Luxons have always been a nomadic, seafaring people. Since the Jade Wind (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Jade_Wind) turned the waters of the Jade Sea into solid jade, the Luxons have learned to take advantage of the situation and specialized in mining the solid sea for treasures. Their ships are now no more driven by the wind, but pulled by giant turtles (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Turtle). Even after the event they stuck to their nomadic lifestyle, living in tents and light huts that can easily be moved to settle in a new location.
The culture seems to be related to that of ancient Greece, having taken on much of the nomenclature and nautical sensibilities of the Greeks. The time period of this would most likely correlate to the Dark Ages of the Greeks, the time during which the Dorians decimated Greek civilization.
The Luxons split up into three large clans: The Serpent (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/The_Serpent), the Turtle (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/The_Turtle) and the Crab (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/The_Crab). These clans often clash in skirmishes to demonstrate their power, for the Luxons respect strength above all else. Such skirmishes take place between champions on opposing sides accompanied by their elite guards. Despite the competition among the clans they are still united as one nation in their war against the common foe, the Kurzicks, and governed by a common council, the Council of Elders (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Council_of_Elders).
The Luxons deified the Three Queens (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki?title=Three_Queens&action=edit) and worships them alongside the Gods of Tyria (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Gods_of_Tyria).
Unlike their foes, the Kurzick, who live in the cool shades of the Echovald Forest (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Echovald_Forest), the Luxons are exposed to the strong sun and winds of the Canthan sea. As protection agains these elements they wear distinctively draped clothes.

Kurzick (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Kurzick) from wiki again:

The Kurzicks settle in the Echovald Forest (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Echovald_Forest), carving their homes and buildings in the trunks of the giant petrified trees.
The Kurzick capital is the city of House zu Heltzer (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/House_zu_Heltzer_%28Location%29), located in the middle of the Echovald. The spiritual center of the nation is the Cathedral zu Heltzer (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Cathedral_zu_Heltzer) located in the Arborstone (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Arborstone) area.

The Kurzicks are a spiritual people who see signs in everything around them. Divination and foreseeing the future have a prominent place in their culture. According to their own words they respect innovation and creation above all else. Their society is a church-state governed by the Council of Nobles (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Council_of_Nobles) who stipulate laws and make decisions based on the guidance of their spiritual leaders, the Redemptors (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Redemptor). Furthermore there are five Great Houses (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Great_House), noble families with great influence on the Kurzick nation, with lineages that can be traced to the earliest history of Cantha and beyond.
Note: That the Kurzicks are a nation of their own, with a culture separate from both the Canthans and the Luxons becomes very clear because of their distinctive look and language, which is very different from the typical Asian-inspired Canthan theme. Their look can be described as "gothic", wearing quaint robes/suits and hairstyle. Their preferred colors are grey and purple. Kurzick names are inspired by European rather than Asian languages, using typical names, words and phonetics from Germanic and Slavic languages. The conflict:

Nowadays the Kurzicks are locked in continuous feud with their arch-enemy, the Luxons.
The conflict goes back two centuries, to the death of Emperor Angsiyan (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Emperor_Angsiyan). Before that time, Kurzick and Luxons used to tolerate each other, and even cooperated. The Emperor's murderer Shiro Tagachi (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Shiro_Tagachi) was brought to justice by the joined forces of the Kurzick champion Saint Viktor (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Saint_Viktor) and the Luxon champion Archemorus (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Archemorus). Unfortunatly both of them were killed by the Jade Wind (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Jade_Wind) and the Kurzicks and the Luxons got into a fight over the circumstances of the event, both claiming the laurels for their people, which eventually sparked the war among them.
Right after the war began the two sides also separated their habitats: The Kurzick entrenched in the Echovald while the Luxon settled in the Jade Sea (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Jade_Sea) area. Locations along the borderline between these regions, such as Fort Aspenwood (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Fort_Aspenwood), The Jade Quarry (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/The_Jade_Quarry) or the Harvest Temple (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Harvest_Temple) in the Unwaking Waters (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Unwaking_Waters) are fiercely fought over until present day.
Both factions have delegates (and even spies) in the court of their liege lord, the Emperor of Cantha. The Emperor manipulates both sides, keeping them in a stalemate to guarantee that neither gains supremacy and that their never-ending squabble does not harm the empire.

So basically, do we side with the fish mongers or the tree huggers? :lowlol:

Well, from what I can see so far. The Mesmer outfits look better with the Kurzick clan. Though I will say the Luxon's do score for Elem chicks with their 15K armor. If it could stand up to the "Can-can" dancer skirt with nicely bare-ish shoulder looking *VS top of the Mesmer, only shoppers and their SVs (Significant Viewers) could possibly say....

I like the idea behind the Luxons vs. the Kurzicks, but then again I think location and it was mentioned somewhere about being roughend by the elements. I did read that in the "Next Vacation spot MAP HERE! Your Guild Wars Free fun and travel Brochure Source!" right didn't I? I'm thinking of Xellany's flawless complextion on this point.

Hummm, maybe I shouldn't be looking striaght at 15k armor... what's Draks equiv look over there? I've been looking on Wiki and some other sites that hopefully listed pictures one after the other but so far no luck without searching indivuals.

I dunno Kiir, which one do you like better? Even though I have been over there and have a tiny level character I haven't really played it. Just peeked a bit. How's Atty feel about either one?

*Not to be confused with SV, which is not a clothing item.

We like the Kurzick armour better, so both atty and I are voting for Kurzick since it doesnt' really seem to matter which faction is which.

Did we ever decide this?

My little assassin/ranger is 17th level now, 'cuz levelling in Cantha is sick.

I'm cool either way. If the Kurzicks have cooler looking armor, and that's important, then go that route. If the Luxons are the less popular server-wide choice, well then they seem tailor made for us.

Let's go Luxon, it is slightly rarer and they just sound cooler.

Plus they have those cool dreadlock hair tentacles and a tongue that zips out and stun people. Oh wait, that's only the Farscape Luxons.

Anyone got a pic of these Luxons?

Seems like they have a nice bow... And what's with all these "in-jokes" here and there...
