For those of you who haven't been in game for a couple days, or who are still on the fence about Factions - they're having a weekend event where they will allow open access to all the Cantha Elite missions through an NPC in Kaineng Harbor (iirc). Not sure if this will be limited to Factions native characters, or if those from Prophecies who have access to Cantha can partake as well.
This coming weekend offers special bonuses for players who enjoy missions, roleplaying, and unique items. Factions players will be granted access to all Canthan elite missions the entire weekend via an NPC in Kaineng Center. In addition, there will be double rare loot drops within Canthan Elite Missions during the weekend! This exciting weekend will begin on Friday, August 4, at 12:01 a.m. PDT (07:01 GMT) and will end Sunday, August 6, at 11:59 p.m. (that's Monday, August 7 at 06:59 GMT). We hope to see you there!

They might let others from the mainland.. the Dragon event Xell got a dragon mask. It was just held there, I thought, to boost either sales or showing off the place. At least that was my guess.. I bet there would be massive screaming from other players that have both but don't want their Ty characters to miss if they couldn't join in somehow or have an event as well...

Well, I should have Kamed up to level 19 or 20 by then, so I'll probably poke around a bit if I can find a group. Only Friday night for a while and Sunday night, though. Leaving for Chicagoland Saturday morning 'cuz Jimmy Buffett is in town, and I just don't miss that if I can help it.

These are sounding rather ... in depth (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Elite_Mission)

In general, the Elite Missions are very long (a full run can take 2.5 to 5 hours depending on proficiency), with large numbers of high-level foes as well as negative Environmental Effects (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Environmental_Effect). They offer the highest level loot (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Loot) in the game as well as powerful unique items (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Unique_item) at the very end of the missions.

Yeah, I was reading that too. I hope it's Sorrow's Furnace tough and not Ruins of the Tomb of Primeval Kings tough, because Ruins just sucks. (Although it does sound like Ruins, with the unique loot dropping at the end.)

LOL. You should catch one of his Cincy shows. Talk about crazy.
Have a happy trip to Paradise, Cheeseburger. :lowlol:

As for the event, still no factions for me, so it's doubtfull I'd be able to participate. I can't see them making whole zones of Factions available free just to drop phat lewts on us cheapskates.

If it's like Ruins, you can't zerg it. TPW means you get kicked and have to start all over.
