VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -- Tired of the criticism of his films, controversial German film director Uwe Boll took on four of his critics in a Vancouver boxing ring, and ended each bout with a knockout.

He said Boll, 41, had told him it was just a joke, a public relations stunt.

"Then he started beating the crap out of my head," he said. "I think he's a jerk. This might be PR but I don't want to keep getting punched in the head."

Boll specialises in making really stinkingly bad films. In a way he is the spiritual successor to Ed Wood.

His last three films, two of which were video game spin offs, scored a resounding 2.0, 2.2 and 2.4 on IMDB. A couple of his earlier films scored <2, which is really difficult, and nothing he has made has ever got above 5.4.

Yes, I know all rating systems are screwed but IMDB does a moderately good job and anything there which scores < 7 (maybe <6 if it is a favourite genre) should be treated with deep suspicion.
