started the new job yesterday. did you know union station is between 1st and 1st ? oi.
walked the six blocks to my office (why is 1st & H not 3-4 blocks from 4th&g ???), except i chose poorly. i guessed the wrong 1st. b/c it's not like there're any distinguishing features :o
walked back to union and then the OTHER six blocks, get to the building and get rushed upstairs to the training (i have training this morning?) ... sit through an hour and a half of federal civil servant benefits talk before i get a chance to find out if i'm in the right place ... obviously i'm not :o
afternoon was getting my laptop and securid so i can log into things. so i didn't do much between sessions :o maybe i'll get my badge today ... hopefully i get my keycard this week so i can quit knocking on the door to be let back into our area :o

Worked late, watched Heroes. I was a little disappointed that the first 15-20 minutes was pretty much a recap of the pilot, but it's got me interested enough to keep watching for now.

UGH... Nasty weather/storms...
Worked late (1130-2000), got home even later (4hrs OT)... Got home almost 1am... Bad enough shift starts at 0900... Tired... Cranky...
Diversions, cancellations... Pissing people off (If you look outside, see the amount of lightning and heavy rain, ask why the planes are late or diverted)... I need a desk job... /le sigh.
Needless to say, no online gaming for me... Or much else.

Hope you enjoy day two better Attriel. Sounds like things are going normally though.
Last night logged in and found few on (It was only me and Wilkin iirc). Started working on blacksmithing, bought more ore and traveled back to gadgetzen. I now have all the patterns I need to finish the bigger blacksmith quest I've been working on, but I need a ton of mithril and something called a heart of fire (?).
While playing Drason, Andrea, and many others logged in. Had several good chats while smithing.
Ended up camping early and going to bed.
I'm not sure if I'll play tonight as I need to run a couple of errands.

I had yesterday off work as a bonus leave day granted in view of the successful release of a couple of new products. Which is nice.
Played a bit of WoW . Warlock (now 16) rode the Dwarven Tram for the first time. That has to be the coolest mass-transit device in any MMORPG I've come across so far. Other than that it was a pretty dull day. I had intended to go out but the weather was miserable - grey and overcast with occasional cloudbursts. Almost cold enough to turn on the central heating, and this at the end of the warmest september on record (by 3.5 degrees C no less).

He let the boys and a pregnant woman (and, I think, a couple of women with infants) leave then tied up the girls and shot them in the head. Three died immediately and one since (up to breakfast news my time). One has moved from critical to serious but all the survivors have severe head wounds.
Apparently he had some sort of 20 year old grudge, against whom is not clear.

DNP last night. Took care of some Ebay stuff then got the kids off to bed and settled in for TV. Prison Break, Heroes and Studio 60. Recorded Vanished to watch later in the week.
Heroes has me worrried, it's only the second show and already the plot is getting hokey and the quality has dropped off.

Welcome to Washington DC our nations capital (not your nations, but ours :lowrazz:). Ahhh - I wondered. My experience of Washington is restricted to that part of the city where you navigate by sight from landmark to landmark. I had heard that the rest of the town had a double-grid arrangement which is ... confusing.

DC can be VERY confusing. I did the same thing when we were there. Everything was based on subway stops and landmarks. I didn't even TRY to figure out the streets.
DNP (again) and won't be until this damned presentation for school tomorrow night is done. I did take a small bit of time off last night to read. Outside of that, I've just been working on my presentation for school.
Is it Thursday yet?

Played a little WoW last night. Working on Charity in the Blasted Lands. Mostly boring stuff like killing basilisks, wolves, scorpions, and vultures. Got killed by the big "named" dragon in the area once. Watched a little Heroes, forgot it was on until 9:30. Watched some of Studio 60, I think I need to watch more. I wasn't impressed by it. Watched Monday Night Football to rout for Brett Favre who was having a bad night. The announcers were really irritating me. All the talked about was Brett Favre and Donovan McNabb. Oh, and I ran out to the bank to drop in a deposit at 11 PM only to find out that my checkbook did not have any deposit slips in it. The ATM requires them for a deposit. *UGH*

Played some DDO during the afternoon, worked on my fighter she solos fairly decently at the moment which is nice. Other then that mainly surfed the web and such. After atty got home he picked up my new computer from the neighbor's where FedEx had delivered it and I set it up, still need to do a bit to make itall set but so far so good.
Other then that not much else went on yesterday, though we learned K-line needs a new bordatello shot before going back to daycamp which won't be a problem except the Vet doesn't have any openings till the 7th of November and there is no way we are waiting a month to get him the shot.

I made chicken and sausage gumbo (no freakin' okra) last night for dinner and i have to admit...its was the best batch I have made so far. my company loved it and even Jack loved it. When I asked Celina if she liked it, her reply was "Yeah....its alright. Ive tasted better." I wanted to strangle her little neck! LOL She can be mean and sarcastic! (Im proud of my little girl!) My neighbor came over to get some sugar and she even stayed for a bowl of gumbo.

spent waay too long fighting thru the desert with the monkey & the rat yesterday but it was good fun. we got thru the quest that gives you self-access to the shimmering citadel (carpet thingie you put in your house, clicky to get there) which is cool cause i wasn't really looking forward to getting deep the mirror thing that ports the whole group in.
we got some stuff done for nez, including the slaughtering of the meatbeast. then we went on the long haul for poet's access, and after much toil in trouble all over ro, we finally got it (although zold had logged by then). thanks again for all the help from zvya, cregan, fisyle & tasiana.
deep prolly got most of 57 doing all that, plus L&L books for harpy (which he had all the components in bank for, now just needs updates), djinn (which deep got all the updates for yesterday), and naga, which deep will prolly never finish. he got a ton of 50+ spells for ozeki, and around a plat in cash/saleable stuff - which made a nice change from his typical night of adventuring which more often results in 10 or so gp.
marlborough got a lot done before that in terms of gaining a couple of prov levels & getting some guild writs done cooking and killin orcs.
ozeki tried to finish off the words of pure magic quest - and had some amazing luck. one of the shrines can appear way in the back of EF, and he tried to get it just to see if he could. mind you he is only 43, but he managed to get past the see-thru-invis lvl 48 giants in the giant tunnel, which was very hairy. first he appraoched the first three or so of em and carefully mezzed them, then he sprinted past the finaly 5 or 6 of them and just when they were within deathblow range ozeki managed to swim just far enough away from them to deaggro the last one. phew, he swam with like 1 hit point to shore, invised up and then realized he had no underwater breathing =p fergot about that part. so after spending a good 10 mins swimming around hoping to see it from the surface, the most amazing stroke of luck ensued! a lvl 60 mystic came swimming byand dropped down right about where the shrine was supposed to be. so i quickly sent him a tell and he kindly underwater-breathinged me and walked me right to the shrine =)
so ozeki now speaks druzaic =)

Found out that the cable company is coming over to rewire our home after the previous ... issue, on Friday. In the narrow window of 8am and 8pm. :evileye: So I may be off work the whole day, which kinda made my schedule this week all wonky.
So instead of working 7.5hrs yesterday, I worked 11, and made it home by 9pm. Ate homemade quesadilla dinner, watched a little of the director's cut of Anchorman (almost a completely different movie, and not nearly as good/funny. bleh.), and followed my WWTFFL's team near collapse, thanks to the GB defense.
Didn't mention it yesterday, but on Sunday I officially won my fantasy baseball league. I had been in first from late May through early August, then went into 2nd place. Solidly. Until last Thurs, which began a daily leapfrog between 1st and 2nd. On Sat and Sun, I remained in first, which is a sizeable difference in .... prize winnings. I'm so happy!

Got home and Jennfier had taken the kids visiting their great and grand mothers, so I loaded up God of War on the PS2. Got through several levels by the time everyone got home.
Jen had stopped at McDonalds and brought home dinner. Midway through dinner, Jordan got the bright idea to stick a french fry up her nose. She screamed when she couldn't get it out. She tried to get it out with her finger which only pushed it further up her nose. I could see the end of it about 1/2" deep with a flash light. Finally, after 20 or so attempts, it shot out like a high speed dart from a blow gun. Everyone rejoiced.

Hmmm, this thread began with Atty's really sucky first day to rat's asses (I think) to snorting beverages (alcoholic and otherwise). Obviously the mention of a bad day brings many of us (eventually) to beverages . . .
Here's one of my (many) bad, but amusing, first days. On my first day as assistant professor I was teaching a grammar lesson in my first-year composition class. I was lecturing as I put sample sentences on the board--unfortunate practice. Suddenly the class gave a collective gasp. My first reaction was to check to see if my skirt had fallen or if I'd had some other 'wardrobe malfunction.' Not the problem--the sentence I was writing was about "public squares" and I had omitted the "l" in "public" . . .
After this incident, for some reason, the class carefully read everything I put on the board.
Hope the rest of the week is better Atty.

Snorting strong alcoholic beverages is tricky - the best way to do it is to invert a shot glass, and fill the little depression in the bottom with the alcohol - use 2 glasses and do both nostrils in rapid succession.
The alcohol goes directly into the lungs, which creates a very rapid infusion of alcohol and thus an increadibly fast buzz, but the buzz wears off quickly as well because of the tiny amount of alcohol.
And for the record, I only did it one night. The sinuses were clear for weeks....

Hey,
FYI, I learned this from a country family doctor doctor: when the kid gets something stuck in his/her snoot, that can't seem to be dislodged any other way, very often it can be expelled by covering the other nostril and blowing, forcefully, into their mouth. Look out, though, it might shoot across the room and take someone's eye out. It might not.

That sounds like it could be dangerous to a small child's lungs if the breather is overzealous.

Well, maybe if you picked up whatever it was and ate it. Yeah, that'd be getting towards disgusting.

Speaking of disgusting... At Six Flags during October they always have Fright Fest. This year, they added a wrinkle, such that anyone that eats a live cockroach will be a free pass to the front of the line for a ride...
Yum...? :evileye:

That's the one. Yeah, I imagine all sorts of tools walk in thing it'll be simple - then they see the size of the proposed meal, and suddenly it loses its attraction.
