hilarious night in vent on EQ2 - we maxed things out so much ryan had to go get a bigger license (thanx man). not a license for a stout, bearded, beaver necessarily, but a bigger license all the same.
tonight was hilarious cause of all us newbie vent users, along with those not in vent, and those jaded vent vets who all surely had different perspectives on the evening. but i think everyone had a great time regardless.
we tried fruitlessly to take on a raid that seemed aimed at lvl 70s or something cause even when we unmentored to much higher level than the raid instance was aimed at we still took a lot of dirt naps in mass confusion.
was a good lesson however on how to remember to communicate among those on and off the talk server, while we might not yet have perfected it. we tried 5 times and we failed 5 times but man we had a blast tryin.
the new "in thing" is going to be setting up your own text-to-speech hotkey fo' sure - "jump up my butt" is now my f8 key, in memory of greebs indeed.
lots of EQ1 reminiscing was had, mostly just talking crap about greebo and mistmoor =p
deep decided to move house finally, while much of the above was goin on, while many mics were checked and "1..2.."-'d over the course of the evening. however, despite the fatigue in my ears and the sore face muscles, i'd happily "suffer" through another of those evenings anytime agin.

The shenanigans were strong in EQ2 this night... like the odor of a mildly drunken beaver, left out in the summer sun for too long. But not in a bad way.
We once again tried raid 3 in EQ2... an once again, we failed- but we have some great times none the less. Having (almost) everyone on ventrilo and (when mic functionality permitted) talking was just awesome. I really hope everyone joins us more often.
Aside from that, I started working on my final for this class, which is due the end of this week. Bleh. Damn education... always getting in the way of my entertainment!
Today's Ventrilo Bind: Sweet merciful God, someone kill those monkeys!
Psyched About: LOST and Battlestar Galactica premiers this week, woo!

DNP last night. Had an attack of ubergeekiness and decided to install the beta version of the new Ubuntu linux release on my second system.
In theory this is a trivial exercise - a minor change to the behaviour of the auto-updater will cause a full release upgrade. However, being impatient I initiated the procedure manually. Unfortunately due to some download problems which I did not fix properly before proceeding I ended up with a system with a broken xserver (ie no windows/GUI). Luckily with linux if you can get to a command line you can fix it, so forcing a new download of the xserver and manually reconfiguring it (ie run reconfigure and accept the defaults) fixed the problem and now I have a bright shiney beta linux with OpenOffice 2 (beta), Firefox 2 (beta) and various other new & updated packages. All seems to work fine and the new boot process is noticably faster. However, the main system and my office box will stay at the current level for now.

DNP: Started watching Heroes over dinner, then went out to Barns & Noble to support a local elementary school by helping out with a Story Night. I read "Harold and the Purple Crayon". Picked up X3 while there. Came back, finished Heroes, then watched Eureka.
Oh - postal story! I advanced ordered "Wintersmith" (the latest Pratchett novel) from Amazon. It was 'delivered' to my house on Saturday according to the USPS, but it never got here. Either the postman got the address wrong and whoever got the book kept it, or it got stolen of our porch. Hard to say...
Anyway, called Amazon, reported the package never arrived, and they shipped out another one no questions asked, should get here today or tomorrow.
Gotta love amazon. :)

Sounds like everyone had fun (Storytime with Greebo!)
Other than work (yay, no OT)... it was okay...
Played WoW, progressed a few quests, some Sumire can't do solo (maybe, but it would be iffy)... Forgot there was a flightpath in Ratchet now (yay).
Otherwise, time was spent browsing CNN and other forums... Checked out Elmore's site (cool, didnt know his Studio was near Louisville... SDF... His classes sounds like fun, but I'm not that uber enough to get in)... Gotta look into his books though... Add to my reference collection...
I wonder what screwups will NK and Iran have, when they do their nuclear tests? :(

I went to the local Barnes & Noble for their big Educator's night. Not very big, really, but I needed a break from the presentation. I can't wait until tonight's over. Good or bad, I'll be done. Anyway, I got my discount card (20% off most stuff for educators except DVDs, CDs, etc), a free cup of coffee and some of their really good carrot cake. Got some ideas for teaching Jess science that I don't know and then came home, stopping by Target for ink.
Tonight is class and my presentation. I am NOT looking forward to it, except that it means it'll be over. I hate public speaking.

Tough day at work. I had to facilitate an incident investigation with a lot of.. strong personalities.
Then I had to write up said investigation.
Exhausted when I finally got to leave so I canceled my guitar lesson and made Jennifer take me to dinner.
She didn't struggle much :lowrazz:
Ate.. YUM. Got home and read "The Golden Torc" while sorta watching Dancing with the stars.
Today, we go to an elementary school (5th grade) to help them design an Legos Mindstorm robot that will try to run an obstacle course in competition later this week.
After that, we have a dentist appointment *rah* and we should be home early.
I DEFINATELY want to play WoW tonight.

I didn't get to play. We are doing a really big acquistion at work and that's taking all my time. I didn't even really have a chance to watch tv and nmy DVR is starting to groan under the weight of all the saved programs. I've got this weeks Heros, Friday Night Ligts, The UNit and two weeks of Nip/Tuck to watch.

I like that "strong personalities" aka a-holes! :D
Played very little last night. Got into WoW to look over my auctions. Sold a nice crossbow that I found killing stuff in Blasted Lands that sold for 5 gold! Yay me! :D I did play an alt for about 30 minutes at the end of the night. Just enough to push him into level 18.

Spent most of the evening working on my paper on the Lindbergh kidnapping for class. Did manage to watch the season finale of Eureka, and log in very briefly as Calliandra to complete a couple of quick quests.

After work I met Joy and my youngest brother at Best Buy to help him pick out an Xbox 360 and a game or two (and to wait out traffic). While there Joy and I bought The Little Mermaid on DVD and Guitar Hero (+ guitar controller) for PS2. Didn't get X3 b/c I thought my other younger brother was going to bring it over for me to copy and he didn't.
Then I helped youngest brother move his TV from my parents place to his car. He can't do it b/c he got a sports hernia last week.
Then went home and played Guitar Hero. Man that game is fun. And it's actually fun to watch others play.
Watched the end of Friday Night Lights (which, according to TiVo was the season premiere). Aside from the fact that, when the ball carrier goes out of bounds, the clock stops until the ball is snapped it looked pretty good.

DNP.
Soccer practice for the boy, then kids bathtime/bedtime followed by half-watching NCIS (during said baths/bed) and the season finale of Eureka. I was really tired last night, so I went to bed as soon as Eureka was over.
Looking forward to a new Jericho and the season premiere of LOST tonight!

Another long day's work in preparation for a "vacation" day on Friday. Got home for some beef stroganoff Hamburger Helper dinner (yum), then watched part of Milk Money (mildly (very) entertaining Ed Harris movie) and the episode of South Park where Chef dies. Now that I have cable, I have a LOT of South Park catching up to do... :D

I watched this last night. I am profoundly disturbed by a sexual liason in the episode, and wish horridly wretched and painful death on all involved in bringing such...uh, images, to my television screen.

Nah. I'm just strongly of the opinion that (SPOILER ALERT!! SPOILER ALERT!!) it should violate several FCC regulations to show Rosie O'Donnell having intercourse of any kind. That's all.

Played a short session of PS ahead of the EQ2 raid, but then decided I didn't have the stamina for a late night.
Overnight patched a certain EQ-like MMO for which I recently recived a beta invite.

Tested sound again. Windows sounds are fine. No sound from any websites.
DDO ambient sounds are fine. No music. GM voice cuts in and out. About ready to disable on-board sound and go buy a sound card.
But dabnabbit... it should work! It's an Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard. Bios has been flashed... going do more updates - download latest drivers etc. and see if that works.

Looks like Audio Drives for the SoundMAX chip in that board were updated in July of this year, probably post-production.
Go here : http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
And plug M2N32-SLI into the search box in the top left corner. You should come up with only the one model (M2N32-SLI Deluxe). Click that, choose AUDIO from the list, and download the driver that matches your OS (actually it looks like it's the same driver for all versions). Hope that helps!

We could just switch over to venrillo - RJO set us up with a channel and so far I'm not impressed with the DDO sound quality.

EQ2: Zyzzyva participated in the weekly LoW mini-raid (12 people). We definitely have some work to do if we're going to be successful next time (that's a topic for the EQ2 board).
RL: I haven't been able to access the boards much (if at all) at work of late, as I'm spending much of my time working in a lab. Thus I often can't check the boards until I get home.
