The comic was fantastic. The move will be awesome - if they do it right.

Great new trailer... Def wanna see this...

My history is a lil' fuzzy... Were the Spartans before or during the Roman Empire? I think before, but need to look it up again...

Militarily, they were the best ones of their time, right? And they weren't mercs. I think.

My history is a lil' fuzzy... Were the Spartans before or during the Roman Empire? I think before, but need to look it up again....

Long before. Sparta was a power in Greece during the ancient Greek era, when Greek city-states goverened themselves and formed alliances to push back invaders such as the Persians. By the time Phillip and Alexander came down from Macedonia to subjugate the Greeks and begin the Hellenistic period of Greek history, Sparta's military power had lessened somewhat and it's remote location and independent nature meant it was mostly ignored by both the other Greeks and the Macedonians. By the time the Greeks were defeated by the Romans at the Battle of Corinth and Greece became a "protectorate" of the Roman Empire, Sparta was little more than a minor province of little interest to anyone.
