Starcraft II Launch LoWdown - Tuesday July 27, 2010
I played WoW (got started later than usual thanks to a long work day). Vyncas worked on quests in the Terrorkar Forest. He's now almost level 65.
I haven't decided whether to get a copy of Starcraft II. Granted, I did enjoy the original...

Home, dinner, overdue budget meeting. Didn't sleep well night before, was too tired to play WoW, so we watched AGT until about 10:30 then crashed.

Re: Starcraft II Launch LoWdown - Tuesday July 27, 2010
Hey,
I'll probably pass on Starcraft II. Not a fan of RTS games at all. I've never played one that had any more than a thin veneer of strategy. Civilization V, OTOH.... Spent the morning babysitting my mother's CPA firm while she and her secretary were out on an audit. Really boring, with one phone call the entire time I was there. Came home and took a nap (the previous night's storms prevented me from getting a decent night's sleep). Talked to my Staffing Specialist and established my start date at Boeing as August 27th, so now it's official. Now I have to dig all my s*** out of the basement... In the evening, watched Warehouse 13 and a very good Rescue Me.

Long day at work. Ended up being too tired to write. Read for a couple of hours before bed instead. I'll have to make up for it tonight. Luckily, I did write over the weekend and MMORPG.com still has 3 from Comic Con that's as yet unpublished.

Car - Aug 27th? The week before Labor Day? Up here in the Seattle/Everett area? Just in time for PAX Prime?

Actually, I apparently now start out in Charleston for a couple of weeks, then wind up in Washington. Still not 100% clear on that, but I imagine that will be one of the first things that gets clarified once I get there.

Ran my 5k in 29 mins, then played some WoW, completing the daily, weekly and VOA25, and spending 60 frost on my new hand slot item.

Got one of my birthday presents early.
Beat Assassin's Creed. Started AC II. Was up far too late because I couldn't stop staring at Ezio. He's cute, alright?

Re: Starcraft II Launch LoWdown - Tuesday July 27, 2010
Worked. Pre-migraine symptoms had me grumpy most of the afternoon. Probably wasn't pleasant to be around. :/
Took a nap. Had dinner at Olive Garden. Tried their gluten free pasta. It was bad. Tasted like a frozen dinner. Mentioned this to the manager, and she agreed it's nasty, and took it off our bill. Looks like there may not be any good gluten free pasta out there. Watched a couple episodes of True Blood. Coming to the end of Season 2. Then we wait impatiently for season 3 on DVD.

Re: Starcraft II Launch LoWdown - Tuesday July 27, 2010
I'm definitely getting SC2 at some point. Maybe for my b-day in a few weeks.
Played a little WoW. It was supposed to be a very little WoW but the pug I got into doing PoS was not great. We had one TPW when the tank started a boss fight w/ some sort of poison or curse on him that was draining ~25% of his HP per tick. I can't heal you through that and a boss's dmg, ding bat. Then we had another TPW when the tank mandated that we all mount up after Ick/Krick to bypass the two groups of mobs that appear on the ramp. That NEVER works for me and this time was no different. The tank left after that which was fine by all of us. Got a new tank and everything else went swimmingly. We even got the Achievement for making it through the tunnel without getting hit by any falling ice. I have noticed that my healing seems to be worse since I regemmed. I thought I got about the same if not better gems but I'm not sure. It's off putting. In the evening we watched Lie To Me and Eureka. |

Re: Starcraft II Launch LoWdown - Tuesday July 27, 2010
It was the first boss we were fighting but he (the tank) was losing HP before we started the fight. It was bizarre. And a bastard, yeah.

Re: Starcraft II Launch LoWdown - Tuesday July 27, 2010
Been really getting slammed at work so not in the mood for much online. Basically pop in long enough for a daily to get my Frosts, and maybe a bit of mining while waiting in queue. The group yesterday (Culling of Strat) featured a Boomkin with 6100 GS. With Heroism up, he was putting out 13k DPS on the final boss (the only one he stole aggro from our 3300 GS tank from, BTW). Then he had the temerity to claim he was low DPS in his guild.

I love the Culling of Strat so, of course, I never get it.

I've gotten Old Kingdom 75% of the time lately. So sick of that.

Re: Starcraft II Launch LoWdown - Tuesday July 27, 2010
Oh, I forgot to mention. There was a financial meeting at work. At the end of the day, and announced only 20 minutes ahead of time. The kind of meeting that sometimes means people are getting laid off.
But, surprise surprise, the company is doing well and we're all getting a bonus in our next paycheck equal to 3% of salary. This in lieu of raises and the like, until the economy is more firm. Except I got the raise as well. Win!

Hey,
Was in Walmart a few minutes ago, and SC2 could be the greatest game evar, but there's no way in hell I'm paying $60 for it to find out.

Re: Starcraft II Launch LoWdown - Tuesday July 27, 2010
I'm currently listening to the books on audible. Very enjoyable - and interesting to see what all changed between the books and TV. The narrator sounds JUST like Sookie should, IMO - you may enjoy them if you want an idea of what's to come.
Bear in mind, however, that the books are 1st person - so there's a TON in the series that doesn't happen in the books.

I think if I tried to *read* them, I'd go insane. But *listening* to them has been quite enjoyable for my commute. :)

Sounds like we're on the same page, as it were. I'll see if the library has them on audiobook.
